aj2181: I'm not sure I like that quiz Gigs.

I came out much the same as the last political quiz I took.

According to this my political philosophy is AUTHORITARIAN. :-[

Left leaning authoritarian. ::)

I was compared to Lenin, Stalin, and Chairman Mao in the other quiz

That was a little too simple to predict.  The first half of the statements were left-leaning, the second half were right-leaning.

I made sure the test showed me as a "right-conservative."

When you can figure out how to answer the question to get the desired result, the test is a failure.

This test is veeeeeery simplistic... anyway, I ended as "Centrist", with the red point located near the "Right-Conservative" area. Which is perfectly true in my case.

Quote : Centrists favor selective government intervention and emphasize practical solutions to current problems. They tend to keep an open mind on new issues. Many centrists feel that government serves as a check on excessive liberty.

While : Right-conservatives prefer self-government on economic issues, but want official standards in personal matters. They want the government to defend the community from threats to its moral fiber. I disagree here with the "official standards in personal matters" part.

Fortunately, the test is about political philosophy, and not political parties ;)

longtimelurker: Well I'm left-liberal bordering on libertarian.

Is it only me that is a touch suspicious that in a test seemingly designed and sponsored by the libertarian's the majority of results are libertarian?

Hey - you're one of us. Now you know, please come and give us your money and vote for us!

Inwood: It said Left-Liberal.

Of course when you can't discuss the questions you don't get a fuller picture. I'm for a volunteer army but I think registering for draft should be compulsory for a national emergency.

I think subsidies should be cut to business and agriculture but know that there may be instances where it's appropriate to have subsidies.

Oh well, guess I just have to hash those out in et cetera...

I got left-liberal, but damn close to centrist. I would've likely been moreso, but I was pro-draft. (I'm not going to let those Washington fatcats declare a war without making them sacrifice THEIR kids!)

Centrist on the authoritarian border here. I don't much like the two-party choice we have here, as both socialists and right-wing wackos can inhabit the same parties as moderates. I voted for John McCain in the last presidential primary. He and Democrats like Zell Miller and Blanche Lincoln espouse more of my mindset.

My philosophy is best followed by the Progressive Conservative Party and the Liberal Party in Canada, Liberal in Australia, and New Labour in Britain. I am a registered Republican.
