Hy!

Where do you go on vacation? Why did you choose that specific location? What kind of vacation is it (hotel, campsite, mobilehome,...)? Just tell me guys and gals.

I'm visiting Sicily (island of Italy) because I always wanted to visit mt. Etna (= vulcano) and I just adore the Italian lifestyle, food and culture!

Cheers

Hy!

Where do you go on vacation?

Cheers

All over the world in fine hotels to quiet multiday canoe trips through the wild. Canada and the UK are my favorite places outside of the US but there is plenty to do here so it’s usually not worth the extra travel time to go anywhere else.

Usually Florida or Vegas. I love Florida and that is why I will be moving there soon.

I either stay at a Hotel or gay "resort".

Been to Europe a couple of times, Central America, alot of US, but these days, unfortunately, I usually spend most of my vacation budget on 5 or 6 annual road trips to Cleveland Ohio to see my immediate and extended family. I make the best of it and usually spend a night at a casino in upstate NY on the way there and some other random place on the way back. Always try to find a nice hotel and good food and sometimes a gay bar. Came back via Pittsburgh in April and visited a good friend. I also get to Provincetown a couple of times a year and nearly always stay at the Watership Inn - great place.

I love to travel within Canada and go to Europe (Northern Europe and Greece) as often as I can.

I used to go to the US on daily excursions-- alone or with friends. I'll go back when the US boarder guards stop being rude to Canadians.

This year, I am thinking about going to Iran. I've read several travelogues about it this year and the culture and history sound so interesting. Last October, six of my Turkish friends rode their motorcycles though Iran on their way to China (via Afghanistan India and Nepal!!), and had nothing but good things to say about traveling in Iran. One of them wants to come with me. If I can get time off when the weather cools, I'll go. If not this year, then next.

Or I may just return to the Amalfi coast in Campania, Italy. It's a bit off the tourist track and I have made some friends there. It is a very beautiful and relaxing place.

Costa Rica is nice, been there a few times. Nice people, good weather, beaches, rain forrest. Playa del Carmen, Mexico is a nice place to visit too if you just want to get away. Awesome town, not too wild, not too dull

I'm a travel ho, I will go anywhere and enjoy it.

Except Las Vegas.

This year, I am thinking about going to Iran.

Thats a place I'd love to visit, but I don't think I would chance it...considering where I'm from.

I've been a number of places, but the place I haven't been and want to see is Cuba.
I'd like to see it before the Communist system, such as it now is, completely collapses.
Also like to see Hemingway's Finca Vigia, his estate about 12 miles outside Havana. It would probably be an anticlimax, though, since you can't get inside these days. If you could, you'd see the original furniture, 9,000 books, and lots of letters and photographs.
Hemingway owned the place for more than two decades, only leaving in 1960 after Castro took over.
I used to be a Hemingway nutter and the idea of seeing the estate has never lost a certain pull.

Have you been to his home in Key West?

Over the years I've been 'around' let's say, but these days I spend as much time as I'm able to in Africa, predominately Zambia. I simply feel more at home there than just about anywhere I've ever been, including my birth nation. I can't really explain why, and I've long since learned to simply accept it.

Having said that, I'll be in Hong Kong shortly, it's a long overdue revisit and I'm meeting someone important (to me at least) there. It's a long story but essentially we needed 'neutral' ground so it seemed as good a place as any.

Also, I need a new laptop ...

I almost never travel, except on business, and I've never been out of the U.S. I spend most of my vacations at home, because I usually schedule them last minute and don't have time to plan a trip.

I'm taking a week off in August, and another in September. I'm feeling like I ought to go somewhere and have some fun, but being an experienced traveller, I don't know where to go. I'm also really cheap, which stifles my motivation to go somewhere, but I have a ton of Marriott and Hilton points from my business travel last year, so maybe I ought to use them...

Anyone got any suggestions? Nothing too exotic please, I'm afraid I don't have the constitution for it. Thanks.
