Okay...
Here is
@tripod presenting his actual
truth... Finally.
I don't live in a fantasy world... everything I type is my actual truth. I don't have an online "persona". My online behavior and statements are pretty much in congruence with my everyday behavior. If I type it, it's my
actual truth
.
I wish my Slavic roots were deeper... they are shallow as fuck. I'm only half Slav and the Slav side comes from my Mom (My Dad is like 10-15% Slav). My Mom was adopted and it was a sealed adoption where I've never known about
any of my Mom's genetics.
Half of me was a mystery... it's not uncommon with adoptions but bugged the crap out of me on a consistent basis. My Mom was told that she was German and Irish but I never felt like this was the case 'cause my Mom looks like she's Italian or Jewish (but with freckles lolz).
So she did the
Ancestry.com DNA test and lo and behold, she is 85% Slav... my Dad makes up the other 15%, so I am effectively half Slavic. No Slavic relatives... no Slavic family tree or exactly where we are from. I feel a bizarre pull from former Yugoslavia where when I look at pictures of the area, I get some sort of "feeling". Dubrovnik literally takes my breath away... I've never felt like that upon seeing pictures or anything like that. When Rick Steeves went to Dubrovnik, I was almost in tears the way I was feeling emotionally just from watching a normal show that I've seen like a million times in every corner of the globe.
So it's a latent pride I'm experiencing... I only learned my mother's genetic make-up just a few years ago...maybe 4 or 5, I cant remember. It;s fresh to me and I am still exploring it.
So the whole USA vs Russia thing was being ramped up the exact same time I was learning about my DNA and getting to know my Slavic roots a little better. That's the actual truth behind the headline that I am pro-Slav. I suppose it will wear off some day... maybe not... I'm ambivalent about my new pro-Slavic viewpoint as I see it as a wonderful thing to actually have
knowledge instead of being in the dark.
I don't at all see a conflict of interests in being pro-USA and also pro-Russia. In fact, if there were more people that think like me, we wouldn't even need nuclear weapons and the global war on terror could end tomorrow.
