I get asked a lot in this forum where Tenerife is.

Here is a link that tells you a bit about this fabulous Island which is part of the Canarian Archipelago. The Archipelago consists of 2 provinces of Spain.

There are a few links to webcams around the Island too. The one's on the Pico del Teide (Spain's highest mountain at over 12000 ft) are usually very interesting. Unfortunately we have had severe storms for the last 48 hours and very little can be seen from the Teide webcams - probably snow bound.

I thought it might be interesting and educational if others were to find and posts links for information and perhaps webcams for their home area too.

Thanks Gillette. If any of my cams are not working they have probably been knocked out by the weather is it was really bad. They should all be up and running at some point today.

Tbh, the view of Heidelberg old city centre across the river hasn't changed drastically in the past couple of centuries, but nevertheless this is the webcam link:

Heidelberg Tourismus - Webcam

The Alte Brücke (old bridge) across the River Neckar is about a three-minute walk from my front door.... presuming that the webcam is showing that view when you look at it. As you will see, the river is pretty high at the moment, due to all the snow having melted down off the hillsides in the past 12 hours or so thanks to plenty of overnight rain.

Less beautiful is the grammar. We read: the picture automatical update every 30 seconds.
Alex, you grammar hound, you have a cause here. Vas-y, s.t.p.

The Heidelberg Tourist Information Office and its associates are somewhat notorious for their poor English. The English-language signs for visitors at Heidelberg Castle in particular (where literally hundreds of thousands of tourists pass through each year)... are an outrage.

Some folks I know just got back from The Teide National Park ( about an hours drive from the beaches ) and sent me this picture of the sledgers.

Crazy when I can see people on the beach and in the sea from my terrace. I won't be driving up there today. :biggrin1:

It is a bloody long way up, though!

I went all the way up there on one of the old mule tracks a few years back, and would certainly class parts of the journey as the epitome of the word 'steep'. :biggrin1: You people who go up there by road have it way too easy.
