When I spoke of the attention a U.S. wholesale doping scandal would have gotten, I was speaking of attention it would have gotten HERE.

Allegations and claims? Doubtful the IAAF would have voted to suspend Russia on just allegations and claims, and Russia has hardly had the book thrown at them, considering all they need do to compete in 2016 is comply with recommendations to clean up their act.

This has nothing to do with attacking Russia and everything to do with fairness to other competitors who may have been cheated out of their rightful place in standings.

Obama has been horrible on the freedom of journalists? Journalists have been murdered? Not by Obama, I hope.

And the White House noted the importance of Russia's military efforts in Syria, efforts Obama's aides previously condemned as benefitting only Assad's dictatorship.

Putin Goes From G-20 Pariah to Player at Obama Turkey Talk

The sidelines of summits are full of talks between leaders, their ministers and aides, but the huddle between Barack Obama and Vladimir Putin at the Group of 20 in Turkey on Sunday was heavy with significance.

The meeting on Syria lasting more than 30 minutes was the first since the Russian president surprised his American counterpart in September by sending in his warplanes to prop up Bashar al-Assad, the Syrian leader the U.S. wants deposed. Since then, terrorism by Islamic State, also known as ISIS, ISIL or Da’esh, has taken over the global agenda and provided common purpose.

Russians and Americans and their various front men and stooges can all piss off and go home.

The Turks did the right thing. Enough with the air space violations and the provocative moves and the lies calling every opponent of the Putin/Assad clique "Terrorists". ISIS isn't anywhere near the Turkman areas you've been bombing. You did it enough times and were warned repeatedly and didn't think anyone would have the balls to shoot you out of their skies. Tough luck.. Turkey isn't the Ukraine.

Turkey will be hurt by losing it's markets in Russia and the tourism trade. Turks have been put through far worse by better people in the past and still survived. Nobody likes a Russian tourist anyways.

It's f...ing stupid to believe the lies of Putin, Obama, Erdoğan, Assad, al-Baghdadi, Hollande or anyone of the dozen or so fascists currently putting their noses into this mess. You partisan armchair warriors, strategists and cheerleaders are all nuts if you think any of the factions are the "good guys". Keep on reading the NYTimes and Global Research dot ca. lol

Where is Putin? Going down the drain it looks like, unless his masters Beijing decide to save his neck. The oligopoly that runs things in Russia is getting nervous and just might pull plug. In the past two years, he's lost the Ukraine, put their economy in the toilet and made enemies of all their best customers and suppliers.

Upside is that all those new apartments the Russians bought in Antalya are going be available at rock bottom prices. They are already real cheap because the people that bought them have lost all their savings due to the fact that VPutin has turned the ruble into a junk currency and they can't even afford to go on a holiday to an inexpensive destination like Antalya, Turkey.

The sooner we see the backside of that old KGB thief, the better.

How does a guy who never had anything but a civil service job, never worked in the private sector, wind up being wealthy? Some say extremely wealthy, as in 200 billion, but that could well be BS. But he is rich. How come?

At last an "equal opportunity" critic, and refreshingly so.

Someone recently wondered (in another thread) why this was aligned with that, or in opposition to another...

Truth is, the question as to alliances, enemies, and all the rest can be pretty much whittled down to several categories: national interests, strategies, money, oil, control and power, and last but CERTAINLY not least, who you've managed to PISS OFF (or not) LATELY.

(#strange bedfellows, #the enemy of my enemy... and so on)

As I've stated before, to try to vilify SOME players in this QUAGMIRE while absolving the rest is, imo, disingenuous at BEST.

Now he's threatening to stop selling agricultural products to Turkey. Their biggest customer for wheat, corn and sunflower oil. What a genius. He banned European imports of food stuffs last year and Turkey took up the slack in the market (20% of it) for fresh fruits and veggies. Now he's threatening to boycott Turkish food stuffs. I hope the cabbage crop was good this year.

Seems he is upset about losing a beat up fighter worth about 5-10 mill on the used fighter market. Anyway, the guys in control behind the scenes pulled his wave the arms in the air, 'Putin tough guy strings'.

'Right Now They're Measuring Dicks, and That's Very Dangerous': The Putin vs. Erdogan Strongman Contest

November 28, 2015 | 12:06 am
The diplomatic crisis over Turkey's downing of a Russian jet is looking increasingly like a battle of wills between Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, two leaders known for their machismo and revanchist politics. Their similar leadership style once brought them closer together, but now it's exacerbating the standoff, since neither can allow himself be seen to back down.

We've already had one ..George H.W. Bush. (Bush41); 41st POTUS
He was Director of the CIA for 357 days from 1/30/76 to 1/20/77, under Presidents Ford and Carter. Ford brought him in as CIA Director, after former CIA director William Colby (1971-76) was let go.
"Abusto Energy" which was formed by Bush in 1977, was rumored to be a front for the CIA, which used the drilling platforms as monitoring stations on Cuba.
But probably the most intriguingly prescient aspect of this episode was the early business relationship between Bush and the bin Laden family of Saudi Arabia. One of the early investors in Arbusto was Houston businessman, James Bath. Bath and Bush became acquainted when both men were serving as reserve pilots in the Texas Air Guard in the early 1970s.
According to journalist Craig Unger, Bath invested $50,000 in Arbusto. At the time of the investment, Bath was a representative for Saudi businessman, Salem bin Laden, oldest son of Mohammed bin Laden; founder of the Binladen Group, the largest construction company in Saudi Arabia. Bath's business partner Charles White later became involved in a legal dispute with Bath, during which he claimed that Bath had actually invested in the company on behalf of bin Laden and other Saudi businessmen, and the total was more like a million dollars instead of the reported $50,000. Both Bush and Bath deny the allegations. No proof has been found to substantiate Unger's claim.

...blow our plane out of the sky for no real reason...

Curiously the media has had little to say on Turkey's reason. The infringement (assuming there was one) was about 17 seconds of over-fly over a rock valley where goats graze, and it would have been very easy for Turkey to ignore it.

* Western media has said almost nothing about Turkey's reason.
* Russian media has said that Turkey supports terrorism. This is a sound-bite.

The real reason has to be the way the borders were drawn when the Ottoman Empire collapsed. In the area where the plane crashed the majority population are Turkomen. Basically they are Turks. In terms of language and culture they have far more in common with Turkey than Arab Syria. They are also opposed to Assad. These are the people that Russia has been bombing. It is to oppose this bombing and support their "brothers" that Turkey has shot down a Russian plane.

The West is very vague about the look of Syria after ISIS and Assad are removed. Of course it is a matter for the Syrian people, but if the West are part of the solution then they will be proposing ideas. One is a federal Syria. It seems very hard to see how the Syrian Kurds would ever accept centralised government. For that matter neither will the Turkomen. We're looking perhaps at semi-autonomous regions for both. A Turkomen region is likely to work closely with Turkey. And the real rub is that it contains both the air-base and the naval-base that are being used by Russia.

Turkey downed Russian fighter jet to defend IS oil supplies: Putin

Turkey's decision to down a Russian fighter jet on the Syrian border was dictated by a desire to defend Islamic State oil supplies to Turkey, Vladimir Putin says.
