The guy I'm seeing is going to pay for my next tattoo, I just need to figure out where to get it and what of. I already have tats on both wrists (my kids names), a "tramp stamp" (lotus with tribal designs), a flower next to my hoohoo, and a nautical star on my left foot. I'm really leaning towards getting one on my ribcage, my friend just got one there and it looks really sexy. The other option would be my thigh. Because I have a chubby tummy (though I like it) yet rock hard thick legs I think I might be better off going for the thigh. Also, the only time I could show off my ribcage would be at the beach or pool whereas I could show off my thighs while wearing short skirts and short shorts.

As far as subject matter, I'm thinking Japanese, something with a koi or geisha.

Avoid detailed pictures. As you age, and your skin cells divide, Tattoos become blurred and lose their definition. for that reason, its best to stick to simple and stark designs that will hold up even as they fade.

Another good tip is to avoid high contrast colors. If you have really pale skin, then dark blues, blacks, and such really kind of visually divorce themselves from your actual skin and serve to just make you look more pale by contrast.

A really good look with design centric tattoos is to pick colors that compliment your skin tone, and are not too different in shade. A limited color palette. For example, if your hair is natural auburn colored, then pale henna colorations, warm taupes, oranges and rust colors would look fantastic and seem almost to be natural marking in your skin.

blondes often have a skin tone that is very pale and slightly bluish or reddish. For them pinks, pastel hues of blue or yellow or golden yellow look really natural and enhance the contours of the body without visually breaking up their form.

In other words... think the way you would in picking a wardrobe... of the colors that look best on you, and go SUBTLE. A tattoo that is a just a few shades darker than your natural tan is still there, still sexy, but understated.

PS-

like this- its subtle... blends well with her skin tones... and from a distance it begs a closer look.

or this one, that uses the newer white ink.

but have a test done first to ensure that white doesn't cause a problem for you.
There are some reports that they are changing color over time... but, again, the idea I am trying to get across os to make tattoos subtle and less stark relative to your natural skin color.

Tattoos / Black Light District

Thanks for the advice, I really like the first picture of the foot tattoo.

Left arse cheek..SQUEEZE. Right arse cheek...ME. Design your own and take your time. Sometimes it can take a couple of years to have something that says...you. Or something that will give the mortician a laugh....Like.... See, I told you I would meet you sometime...and, leave it alone you dirty fuck. :) :) If you happen to cark it in a bomb explosion or plane crash, then it won't matter 1 iota. Then again you could always tattoo a jigsaw puzzle on your bod to give CSI something to do.

No offence, to each his own, but I wonder what tattoo's will look like when one is in one's 80's and sitting in a nursing home....Not my thing, but do what makes you happy - we only live once.

What a nice mole

No seriously it doesn't have to get to that people can have amazing tats even to that age if they have proper care, fit and healthy..

These days, if you be lucky enough to make it to 80, you would be unusual not to have a tatt somewhere on your bod. Get them when you be 50, then they, have less time for the ink to run :) I reckon leave something for the last person to see your body to ponder over. Like a riddle. What's white all over and does not move? A corpse :) :)

As tats change with your body over time, they can always be touched up. If you've made sure you really love it, it should make you happy no matter what your body does, because it truly represents a point in your life.

I have one that shrank because I lost a boatload of weight. I still love it, but I still want it to cover my whole upper tummy. Now I'm thinking of things to add to it so it can be across my whole tummy again. Honestly? I'm getting most of my inspiration for the expansion from Kung fu Panda II. I'm thinking of peacocks or pheasants made from paisley and lace.

I ponder a design for years before I start looking for an artist. I'm settled on one for my upper thigh which I first thought of in 1999 now. I've always known who would ultimately draw it. She's out of her studio right now, but when she returns, I'm going to approach her for pricing. Then I have to save for her fee. Then I have to save for the inking. But I'm sure I want it. I hope she is willing. I'd like to have it and the tummy tat done together, because I give lots of blood, and I won't be able to give for a year.

Sneak peek at what you have in mind?

I want an artist whose name I'm willing to PM to you to draw me a picture of an angry sneaker devouring the road, leaving paisley and nautical stars, and rubble in its wake. This way, it'll tie in to my existing tattoo, and my expansion upon that when I'm ready for expansion. This particular artist's style appeals to me. She'll make the sneaker look beautiful, and evil.
