Where's the olympics thread?

The same was true with the Olympics held in India. Swimmers getting sick from swimming in pool water that wasn't correctly sanitized. The Olympic village was sub-standard.
Commonwealth Games - but yeah. :/

All the big talk of banning Russia from these Olympics because of drug cheating only
allow them to compete.

The Olympic committee are toothless tigers and allowing Russia to compete debases the worth of
the Olympics even more.

The IOC is such a joke. Just today they denied the robbery of Lochte and friends only to have the police say yep, they got robbed.

They derided the Atlanta Olympics because they were "too commercial." What they meant was that there were many kiosks on the streets near the park that were licensed by the city to sell their goods. In other words, they were cutting in on the official Olympic kiosks selling IOC approved goods.

I'm really hating on the NFL commercials that try to tie it into the Olympics. It's rather pathetic. 'Hey guys! We're here, too, remember?'
Just as bad are the Star Wars commercials that equate the real sacrifice and courage of Olympic athletes to fictional characters in a Hollywood movie franchise.

I feel this way about the Russian athletes. In a lot of ways, I don't think they're guilty. It's was the Russian gov't that is the guilty party. I heard it explained like this: It was as if an official in Obama's cabinet orchestrated a doping program, the CIA and FBI were responsible for the cover-up, and hundreds of people in the government were part of it. Can you really blame a young adult for doping under those circumstances?

That's one government sponsored competition no athlete is going to win. It's, you play or you go way ... and so does your entire family.

Hey...I'm all for dem whities in tighties.

I do not care..............black or white ....

Personally, I'm digging the international man candy parade of hot swimmer dudes.

Fact is they banned a lot of Russians.

All but one of the entire Russian track and field team were banned from competition and the sole Russian woman who was allowed to compete got a reprieve due to the fact she had trained outside of Russia for the last 3 years and was tested multiple times and had never once come up positive for any illegal drug.

Add, Russia's entire weightlifting team was banned as well as the entire Paralympic's team.

Russia's full Olympic team would have consisted of 389 competitors. Of those, 271 were cleared to take part.

I don't know if I agree with some selection made by the Olympic committee, certainly a number including Russian swimmer, Yuliya Efimova, are sketchy but I also don't believe in painting all the athletes as cheats without evidence specifically concerning those being accused. Everyone should have the right to a fair individual trial.

good honest article i thought,thanks

@twoton nailed it. The NFL happens EVERY-DAMN-YEAR, nobody forgot about you and your head trauma denial. And trying to link the Olympic qualities of some athletes to Star Wars, cartoon dogs, or tires has always been bad. Please stick with the "Thank you Mom" commercials and PLEASE throw in a shout out to us dad's too. Ha, I am up on my soap box as if someone from the IOC, BMW, NFL are on here to listen.

Oh, and why is Ryan Seacrest part of the Olympics?
