As a songwriter/studio musician I understand music better than all of you put together. Music is primarily about feelings. People like different kinds of music. Some love Opera, for example, but most do not. It's merely a preference.
For me, I like 1960's pop/rock the best. Jimi Hendrix, the greatest electric guitarist in history, is my god. I have all his video performances. They bring tears to my eyes.
