Anyone reading Justice Stevens's dissent in last year's Heller decision will realize the peril of relying on the courts for anything important.

Fortunately it's not the only court in the land, although of course the "buck" stops there. Would that Supreme Court Justices were appointed for term, rather than life, would that engender more or less public trust?

I'd say both are equally corrupt. Most politicians spend the majority of their time stumping for funds, not working on behalf of the American taxpayer. If you then consider that most of them also pander to lobbyists and their interests, I think you'll see that none of our elected officials are worth much and have sold us out to feather their own nests. Just my own opinion.
