When I think of centipedes, all I can picture is the large, snake-like monstrosities of Hawaii.

These things gave me the screaming heebies when I was younger, but now their presence is just a disappointing heads-up that I have roaches. That's what they eat. If you see a bunch of house centipedes, you've probably got roaches. Here, we get the huge American Cockroaches. They fly, which makes them more disgusting. They don't tend to make big infestations, but they can. We don't have an infestation, these guys are just passing through, hoping to find food. They like to eat my kitty litter because it is made from walnut shells. I don't think house centipedes eat them. But the spiders do. That's why I encourage the big spiders that live in my gardens and under my awning, and allow the little spiders to live inside with me.

Been there, did NOT like it

How bad was it? When I was a kid, my buddy was bitten by one on the arm and it became this yellowish-brown color. The tissue became rock-hard and he lost some mobility in his hand.

You probably caught it fast. Where I grew up your parents told you to walk everything off lol. He went to the doctor a couple days later. Loss of mobility was only temporary.
