No, perhaps he feels that weighing in on the debate would not be in the nation's best interest, nor in the best interests of the goals his administration have set forth.

OPTION 1: Perhaps he's a "quick study" and has learned from the last time he gave his frank opinion on an issue.

Option 2:Or perhaps he holds onto what he called "the audacity of hope"... in this case, hope that people are better than opposition based solely on demagoguery and hate.

So, essentially, you completely agree with me. In your own option 1 (my label), he is a liar. And in your Option 2 (my label): he doesn't think they are racists.

So, we agree it's very likely of of those two options.

If you think that his avoiding being again trapped into commenting on a polarizing issue (thereby diverting attention from much needed changes in healthcare as those on "the right" no doubt had hoped) makes him a liar, well, that's your opinion.

Or maybe he really doesn't think their opposition is racially motivated, not all of them at least.

But regardless of the motive for his response, the accuracy of it, or his personal opinion, it doesn't invalidate the observation (by many) that the fuel of much of the opposition to Obama is indeed based in racism... or at least race based misinformation and mischaracterizations.
