There was an enormous backlash to the stupidity wrecked by Rahm Emanuel's unwise plan to attack Fox News:
White House's Fox News War Sparks Criticism, Surprising Backlash - Huffington Post

Then the Obama Administration disgraced itself by attacking Freedom of the Press:
Obama Escalates Feud: Administration Attempts to Exclude Fox News from White House Pool

The Obama Administration just made CNN, ABC, NBC, and CBS take FOX NEWS' side over theirs and tell the American people that the White House is acting inappropriately and unfairly to the Press. Rahm Emanual just made FOX News that much stronger.

    That 'attack Fox' plan...backfired.

The Daily Show already did a great job in exposing the overall hypocrisy of anyone trying to defend Fox News on this issue. This does absolutely nothing to the image or reputation of White House. Ignorant, paranoid people will always look negatively on the White House regardless of what they say.

Well they would be happy if the White House were to announce that indeed Obama was born in Kenya and is therefore ineligible to hold the office of president and is resigning. And is installing Sarah Palin as president. Now THAT would make them happy.

Was never much of a Fox News fan... I don't watch tv for my news, really. That said, the White House's actions have made me more than less likely to watch the channel. It really seems like they're just trying to crush dissent, and it's unseemly.

I'm glad that a high-profile body is finally recognizing the fact that Fox News is not a news channel. Fox news has no more right in the White House then Entertainment Tonight.

I hope that this trend continues.

Fox News exists precisely because of Freedom of the Press. The White House is also free to call them blatantly biased.

Isn't this the same group swooning over Shep Smith? Fair and Balanced. Fox news really has you guys scared doesn't it? Your focus on them only strenghtens it.

Okay, they have one balanced newsman against a slew of heavily right-tilted and loud commentators. So balanced.

No, never heard of Shep Smith.

Yes, I am very scared of any organization that abuses the public trust so blatantly and plays on people's basic fears at the expense of the country, simply for power or profit.

If I were an adult in the 50s, I would have equally been scared of the McCarthy Hearings, which fed off the same basic fears in the electorate.

A healthy democracy depends on its constituency to be well informed, not manipulated by their own fears into mass paranoia.

It was long established before FOX showed up on the scene that MSM was liberally biased. Upwards of 90% of the votes in MSM get/got cast for Democrats.

FOX came along and filled a niche. FOX is a reaction to the original broadcasters.

When you're camped out on the far right fringes of the universe, everything has a liberal bias...

They did fill a niche, and did it pretty successfully. Prime time viewership in Q3 more than MSNBC and CNN combined. Seems like there are a lot of "right wing nuts" out there, or a whole bunch of people are watching Fox News just to shout at their TVs.
