So, the shop owner invited me to her grandson's first birthday party last December. That in itself was really cool. Lots of friends and family, lots of food, lots of beer, and an incredible karaoke setup that her late husband had built.
Her daughter-in-law invited a friend of hers, too, and told me beforehand, "My friend is coming later, and she's single, too." Okay. They practically pushed us to sit together and talk, so we did. We sat by each other for karaoke, etc, and chatted about as well as we could.
Now, I get nervous whenever I get set up like this, which doesn't happen very often, either. I didn't even get her number or email right away, but I also knew that we'd be able to get a hold of each other through our mutual friends anyway.
After returning from Christmas vacation, the shop owner got her daughter-in-law on the phone, who gave me her friend's phone number. I still hesitated, so one week ago, the shop owner said to me, "Why do you not call?? Mijung's friend is getting angry!"
So, we're going out Monday night -- for our third date. She's pretty nice -- been in the US for ten years, but definitely unlucky in love. We'll see what happens.
