Not so my beautiful friend. I worked for a major telecommunications firm and they did an employee satisfaction survey in the late 80s/early 90s. When they did it, they truncated two of the responses. So what should have appeared as "Not enough blacks in management" and "Not enough women in management" was truncated to "Not enough blacks/women in management" when the report was released. One of the top accounting people in our division was a black woman. So did they promote her to the head of Accounting? No, they promoted her to Director of IT. The poor lady was not qualified for it and the management promoted her to the post anyway. When problems started arising, she was trying her best to figure it out, but she was not a tech minded person, she was a numbers person. She ended up resigning due to the stress and the disciplinary boards she was forced to face due to her performance.
So yes NJ, I saw first hand someone lose their job, not directly as an AA situation, but she lost it for being black, promotable, and promoted to the wrong position. So I am pretty sure that other companies used a similar blueprint to "get rid of" people like that. I just can't prove it yet. :biggrin1:
This is similar to what Thomas Sowell writes about when he describes how blacks get recruited to top schools they do not qualify for. This lady, does get her old accounting job, she gets fired. The students do not drop out and then get a scholarship at less university, they just quit.
Not to mention it denigrates every black, minority or women than earns the job or scholarship.
