I've posted about this before my old account got closed down about a year ago.

I have had this slightly raised layer of skin growing in the same patch under my foreskin for years now and it gets bigger and smaller erratically over periods of months. Anyway, I've been to the doctors and gum clinics time and time again, been referred, then refused a second biopsy after I freaked out the first time and couldn't go through with it. The doctor said it was "too small to worry about". It looks like its just smegma at a first glance in the photo but I assure you it's MY SKIN *after* washing! It's a white colour, raised and it can be peeled off but grows back. Underneath it's just a paler version of it in my skin, same layer. What is it? After so many years I really want and need to know. I have to be able to go to a doctor and say "I think I've got this" and then they can start from somewhere rather than nowehere like they have been. I've been given creams for eczema and thrush and they haven't worked! It started when I was 18 and I'm 25 this year!

I hope someone knows who had the same problem (and got it resolved!) ...

Looks like lichen planus. Go see a dermatologist. Ask him/her about lichen planus. I'm no specialist.

Edit: btw, Lichen planus is a skin condition, technically a disease that isn't contagious or transmittable. It isn't curable but a dermatologist/skin specialist should be able to help with the appearance. It's usually oral or arms and legs. Rarely confined to the genitals, but it does happen. So many doctors are unfamiliar with it.

I figured a little more information would be helpful. But really, talk to someone who specializes in skin.

I have it, and I went through the exact same things you have gone through. It was a while before I found out what it was.

Good luck.

That's what I was going to say. I've not had it, but remember someone who spent ages getting bounced from one professional to another before it was diagnosed - by a dermatologist, as with g00d2day.

My dermatologist checks all parts of my body during annual skin check for cancer.

They definitely do. I speak from experience.

Thanks, they can branch out... I remember when I helped an ENT doc, and was puzzled when he had a patient with her boobs out. I was a volunteer
