She seems to have been in a good mood, according to people who spoke to her earlier that afternoon.
If pills did kill her (and I'm not saying they did, though news reports say pills were found in the room), I'm hoping it was misadventure rather than deliberate.

It's said sometimes people get really happy when they decide to end it all, she was very boisterous at the bar earlier that day or the night before. It's just an awkward place to kill yourself, in a hotel knowing you are going to a party that night. It's also not easy to drown yourself in a tub as your reflex to breathe won't keep you down long enough to fill your lungs with water. She probably was manic and took pills and a bath to relax and then she was gone.

As it was described.......

Whitney Houston’s tone was the perfect combination of richness, intensity, and brilliance. Her range – powerful, wide, and seemingly effortless.

I really don't see that happening again in my lifetime. Whatever her recent problems her achievement will never be diminished.

It's way to sad to have such a beautiful lady with such great talent leave us so young. She left us with her music witch will be heard forever.

agreed. but I think many media outlets had an obit already written. the clips from her european tour? pretty much spelled out it was inevitable. I would rather have the memories of the voice that what I saw in the past few years. It sadly proves that Bobby Brown was not the 'only' drug...

Is the entertainment media going to beat this Whitney Houston story into our heads until we collectively go insane? I don't mean to be insensitive but every time I turn the TV on I see this enormous, giant mouth singing " I-EE-I-EE-I, will always love You..." The media is going to do the same thing with The Greatest Love that they did with Unchained Melody. That used to be a reliably romantic vaginal lubricator for my wife until they played it to death.

It's a shame that drugs and alcohol ruined her voice; Whitney was an amazing talent. However scream-singing (even in perfect pitch) is not in the musical league of Swedish opera soprano Birgit Nilsson or even an African-American operatic singer like Leontine Price. Of course the Nilsson died at an old age and Price still is living in her 80s. And Whitney Houston- by all reports- was a natural talent that was never professionally taught how to use her voice without damaging it.

Imagine: A Julliard trained Whitney Houston at the peak of her powers doing Aida or Turandot? We'll never know.

It did surprise me, even with all her difficulties with addiction I wasn't expecting it. Hopefully she is at peace and her family can find a way to move on knowing how much she gave in terms of happiness to so many over the years through her singing and her acting.

I agree with most of the comments about Whitney..I was hoping for a come back like most of us..I grew up listening to her music, she had beauty, grace and of course the voice of an angel. She is now with the angels choir..She had a strong faith in God and even through her low times she said(i read) that God was still taking care of her. As far as i know is she never lost her faith. Not much mention of Bobby Brown and yes as an individual you choose to take that first addicting drug. I cant help think hearing Bobby saying come on baby try this with me, it wont hurt you, it will make you feel good.I watched the funeral on CNN and could not help but to well up with emotion during the 4 hour service..I woke up at 1 A.M. ironically to the TV showing the movie The Body Guard and after that a hour long biography on her life. She is at peace with God, that's what i believe..Whitney, you will be missed.

Apparently, in the news today, there are reports that her family sold the 'rights' to the funeral coverage to set up for life her 8 year old daughter.Could there be anything in more bad taste ??!

Sadly, Whitney died broke. That is a fact. So her family and friends had to pay for the funeral. So in this situation i can understand them putting her belongings up for auction. She lost everything she had. Her houses in New Jersey estimated worth at $2.85 million were auctioned off back in 2006. She was so broke, she would borrow whatever money should could from friends. She was a good woman. She came from a very good family. I attended that church more than a few times over the years with my wife. I did not know her or her family. However, her family have a reputation as being very good people within the community. This is not the Jackson family. I have not read about the funeral coverage rights being sold. She died owing millions.

It surely doesn't matter how much money she had or lost you simply do not SELL the rights to a funeral. Her child is not going to starve and won't inherit her mothers debts anyhow.Besides the child presumably has a father also, not to mention record royalities.
Michael Jackson also (preportably) had massive debts at the time of his death, but the subsequent rise in record sales after his death meant his estate benefited significantly.
I hope the story isn't true but I have a feeling it is,in which case I can see a great many similarities, after all MJ's mother seems to be suing everyone in sight for financial gain.

Whitney Houston was an amazingly talented individual but flawed just like the rest of us. People should lay off dwelling on her addiction unless they are leading a perfect life. Everyone has weaknesses. Is her addiction to drugs any worse than another person's obsession with big dicks, cigarettes, alcohol, or talking gossipy shit all of the motherfucking time? I don't think so.

Her daughter is 18, and I don't find the selling of broadcasting rights to be in bad taste.

Unlike M.J., Whitney H. wouldn't earn as much from royalties as she did not write or produce songs.

Worth repeating.

It never ceases to amaze how people attack the celebs. when they have difficulties and addictions. Would all those making comments about Whitney Houston make the same comments about their own close family and loved ones?
