Joan of Arc would be my female history hero.

IRL, my grandmother. Poor farmers daughter, then a farmers wife. She had six kids, could make anything, cook anything, do anything, loved everyone and would do anything for anyone including a stranger just to make their life better. She always had the ability to fill my life with sunshine and laughter. She died of AML.

I've already told some of her story in the Women's Issues thread about breast reconstruction. I might tell the rest some other time, but for now, IMHO my wife is among the very best there ever was or ever will be.

You are a sweetheart . My mum is my hero. She started going to uni full time while she had three kids in primary school and was working full time. She then took on a second full time job for a few months to earn extra money for Xmas. She continued working and going to uni full time until she got her degree. I still can't figure out how she did it. I think she has super powers that she forgot to pass on to me. She's also my best friend and an all round fantastic person.

I need to find a heroine to emulate, I think. There are hundreds whom I admire, but aside from Louisa May Alcott and Barbara Cartland, I don't want to acquire their qualities...
