My favorite comedians: Lucille Ball, Carol Burnett, Carol Burnett, Carol Burnett...(did I mention Carol Burnett? :smile: ), Steve Martin, Tim Conway, The Wayans Family, Dane Cook (this guy IS funny!!! I remember seeing him on a few Comedy Central programs on cable when he first was coming out on the comedy scene. I almost lost a tongue from laughing so dang hard. Dane Cook is so laughable.), Andrea Martin, Joe Flaherty, John Candy, Eugene Levy, Rick Moranis, Dave Thomas, Dave Chappelle,
Joe Rogan, Wanda Sykes, Gilda Radner, Chevy Chase, Dan Ackroyd, Jim Belushi, and the writers for the "Tom and Jerry", "Hanna/Barbera" and "Bugs Bunny" cartoons.

I have a thing for Gallagher. There's also a comedian on "Last Comic Standing" that I absolutely adore... I hope he makes it to the "big time". His name is Lavell Crawford. I also like Ralph Harris from that show.

As for Allan Sherman, I bought that recent Rhino Records collection MY SON THE BOX. Six discs, lots of outtakes and unreleased material and some which was previously "banned". I jammed all this stuff onto my iPod and when it's on shuffle mode, I always hear something. It's never dull. He could use his voice in many ways, which he didn't bother to do on many tracks (there's a perfectly good Jimmy Durante sound alike on it)...funny man, troubled in later years. His autobiography was pretty good.

Please not Gallagher. I mean how funny can smashing a watermellon be? I find his humor overly ridiculous and sophmoronic at times. Although I do like how he uses that ordinary box of props as comedic tools. I think that is quite witty and imaginative.

Best Stand-UP Comedian in UK.

As Lenny Bruce, Woody Allen and Richard Pryor were busy inventing Stand-up in the U.S. so Billy Connolly was re-inventing the genre here in UK.

Before him all we had were gag-tellers and Mother-in-Law jokes.

Now everyone tells Stories. And he is the best. Check him out on YouTube. He was on the Craig Ferguson show recently.
