For all the Democratic voters and/or people planning on voting for Biden...who do you think would be the best pick for VP. Amy Klobuchar withdrew her nominating process today emphasizing that Biden should pick a woman of color. I tend to agree with the recent events in our society. So that limits the choices..unless there is an underdog no one knows yet. (And please dont answer Michelle Obama or Oprah. They have stated a firm No).

But honestly...I'm having a tough time deciding on who would complement him the most. All I know is that person needs to have experience and ready on Day 1 to take over if something should happen to Biden. I also know there is A LOT of behind the scenes cleanup work that needs to be done to eliminate all the hidden things this administration changed without us knowing. So I personally want someone who knows what to do legally and can make it happen quick.

So who do you think would be best?

This isn't a forum to condescend people or if you're not in favor of the democratic candidate to voice your opinions on that. No arguing. I'm just curious who most people would like to see fill the role.

Kamala. Sharp as a tack and the smartest most intelligent of all the Democratic candidates this time around. I would have voted for her in the primary if she hadn't dropped out.

Right now I like her because she is fast on her feet in a debate and isn't afraid to stand and fight - credibly. There are obviously some issues in her past as Atty. General, but that can be easily dealt with.

All are great choices. Can we have a team of VPs? Whichever one gets the nod, I hope the rest will be offered and be placed in important national administrative positions. What a step up from the idiocy of a Betsy DeVos level administration.

I think most people are leaning toward Harris, which I'm supportive of. What I'd really like to see is when Biden does announce his VP...I'd love to see some of the other candidates announced for other positions. So its like more of a team effort. Ive always thought Pete would be good for Sec. of State. I'm not sure where Warren would do best but I think she was amazing creating the Consumer Financial Bureau. The odd thing is I haven't seen Val Demings do one single interview. So either she is totally not interested or she's purposely being quiet until the announcement.

Typically, a Presidential Candidate announces his running mate @his convention in August. Cabinet members are announced during the transition between Election day and inauguration day. Why do you want vice-president Biden to rush?

Warren needs to stay in the Senate. Mass. has a Republican governor and her replacement will be republican if she leaves to take a job in the Biden admin. Just what we need to do - elect a Democratic Senate and give it back. Second, focus. No one votes for Cabinet officers when the vote for president. While liking a certain candidate in a certain position is reasonable, someone else will make that a reason to vote for Trump - or not vote. Demings is smart to keep her head down - nothing good comes from campaigning for the job. Cabinet jobs need to be carefully vetted - even when dealing with obvious choices. Biden does not need an eruption of problems from people not yet appointed for any job. Biden v. Trump is all that matters.

Its not really to rush it...but trying to garner as much support from various facets of the party. Like if Warren isn't selected as VP...will the Bernie Bros just not come out at all? Or would it be better to at least let them know she will play a big part in the administration. Or if Harris isn't selected...maybe knowing that maybe Biden will choose her as AG.

I'm just thinking about covering as many bases as possible. Biden wasn't my first choice, but of course I will vote for him. But maybe someone wont cause of this or that. But knowing he has a great VP or someone else might sway some voters.

And @keenobserver ...yes, you're right about Warren and her seat in the Senate. What a puzzle piece of an election.

I have always thought that the role of Secretary of State garnered a higher level of visibility than that of the role of Vice President, and, have suspected that Hilary Clinton was appointed to the former for that reason.

While the office of Vice President in higher in the technical hierarchy of government, I believe that it is less influential than other roles within the Executive.

I once remember being asked a trivia question during a trivia contest. Five names were presented with the question: What did the five persons have in common.

Jokingly, I guessed "Vice President of the United States". The answer was correct. I won a $500 gift certificate to a major department store.

You are correct. The VP role really isn't all the important for policy or notoriety. But I still think it plays an important part in how an administration is viewed during an election cycle. And might be influential in winning. I honestly think Hillary chose the wrong VP in 2016. Picking a no-name hurt her and didn't widen her appeal in any way. I fear Biden might suffer the same outcome if he chooses poorly. But there have been lots of vice presidential candidates that have sank other people. I believe Sarah Palin sunk McCains chance. He even admitted so years later.

Could you imagine Sarah Palin and Vice President of this country? Especially with Donald Trump?

Biden is a young 78. He acts and appears younger than Trump who is 74.

Biden needs a VP who is literally ready to step in at a moment's notice especially the last two years when Biden will have already turned 80.

Biden very well may not run for a second term due to age and whomever is the VP will walk into being the Democratic nominee for president in 2024.

That is the most important criteria for whomever is selected as Biden's running mate: Able to step in at a moment's notice and not any glitch being noticed.

For this reason I lean toward Harris as she is a former prosecutor and knows how to handle people. I was very impressed with Harris when she was on the debate stage.

The second criteria is the VP nominee should help Biden win. This may be Harris' weakness for only one reason. If Biden can't carry California then he is set to lose in a Trump landslide.

Biden shouldn't need anyone's help carrying California.

However, Harris may be such a good VP candidate that she helps Biden in other background states.

Here is where Abrams from Georgia might help Biden carry Georgia. However there are 49 other states besides Georgia.

I have not seen enough of Abrams to form a strong opinion one way or the other. She did well in Georgia in the Senate race and that does speak volumes in favor of her.

Right now. Today. I would have to select Harris unless I find out more about another women of color that would benefit Biden even more than Harris.

I doubt that she would consider it, but in speaking of cabinet positions, if Hillary would agree to be Secretary of State again her experience and contacts might go a long way to restoring American interests and quickly! No one else, except Bill Clinton or Barack Obama could step in as quickly and do as well as Hillary especially that first six months that due to the pile of "once fast food" that Trump has dumped over the entire world that has created a shit load of trouble for America's next president.

Biden should not even "go there" concerning Sec of State until the election has taken place and Biden is the winner and the Electoral College has already voted Biden as president!

I recently saw an interview with Val Demings and I really liked her. She didn't speak like a politician with calculated vague answers. (This is is my problem with Harris. I like her, I'm sure she can do the job....but I dont necessarily trust what she is saying is heartfelt. She does come with a lot of AG baggage. I'm not even sure how the Black community views her). I like that Demings was one of the people running the House Impeachment process. I also like that she was the police chief in Orlando. I would think since police reform is going to be a major issue this could help with that. And on top of that FL is a swing state. This might sway some votes if the people or Orlando liked her.
