While my enthusiasm for him has diminished, I will be voting for him and probably giving financial contributions. This is because I wil take virtually any current Democrat over virutally any current republican. Plus the long-term prize is judicial appointments, particularly supremes.

Dems may be on the corporate payroll too, but the country is more likely to get better outcomes from them, and maybe even some genuinely progressive direction. Like it or not, a two-party system is what the U.S. has, and it DOES make a difference which party is in power.

I can't see Republicans as anything other than evil.

As always I will vote third party. People sadly accept politicans for lying or not completing campaign promises, I can't. I don't even know who I'll vote for third party this time, but I'll find someone.

One that pays attention to foreign relations. Wild guess.

It shows me that he's willing to not live under the illusion that our country is the only one in existence or matters. Maintaining positive relationships with our overseas allies is essential to maintaining stability in our own. Someone who is truly loyal to their country's survival knows this and acts accordingly.

Then you need to join the real world ---- in the last election I watched MSNBC's Chris Matthew's ask every Republican he interviewed just what minimum wage was and NONE of them knew --- NONE of them!! Wonder why????? And for the 6 years THEY had the Presidency and both Houses of Congress --- just where was THEIR health care plan for the 40+ million Americans who had none? How come THEY raised the debt limit to $9 Trillion Dollars and allowed GW to conduct wars in 2 places WITHOUT raising taxes -- AND conveniently eliminating the costs as part of their budget!! The real world huh????

I knew there was a reason why I shouldn't have gotton into this thread. Come see me when you walk into the real world.

Wow... a response to rhetoric about loyalty vs. foreign affairs generates an idiotic response like this? I should have known that you were here to "preach your beliefs" instead of discuss the facts.

Sorry, I have my own "real world" to take care of. No one person, group or ideology owns the keys to reality, and when you can step outside of your own sheltered life and come to grips that reality differs from person to person we'll be waiting. Until then, have fun in your bubble.

Based on what we have so far, I would definitely cast my vote for Obama. I don't like his political style and I do not fathom why he feels compromising his ideals to nothing is any kind of "win".

The GOP has offered me the biggest group of extreme loons in history. Palin and Bachmann lead the pack of misinformed unqualified individuals and the least offensive is Romney, but that does not mean I want him for President.

We have suffered again and again because of elected representatives not representing the interest of the people, but instead representing the interest of about the top 20% of the most wealthy American and foreign Corporations.

Those same Politicians have slowly eroded the rights of the common citizen in favor of the rights of the corporation over the citizen and those same men have taken away the protections we have had throwing us the citizens to the wolves or under the bus without the slightest care for the legal precedents they are setting for the future.

It needs to stop. If we want to fix anything what is needed is not a President because he/she has far more limited power. What we need is to absolutely positively purge the Senate and House of individuals who stand on partisan political gain with their party over the welfare of the people of America.

I agree with VinylBoy. Obama has a background that makes him acutely aware of actions having international consequences, and he is internationally very well liked. Merely having him in office, even as only a figurehead, will make other countries much more amenable to any requests we have. This is a necessity if we want to continue with our position as a world power.

Bush was responsible for many actions that were downright reprehensible, but it seems the only thing that Obama is getting blamed for is failing to do enough while attempting to do the right thing, even though he has operated in the spirit of cooperation and been stonewalled at every turn by the other side of the aisle.

A question for those who say there's no way they'll vote for Obama again: What exactly are people pointing at when they feel there's no way Obama deserves a second term?

Follow up question for those that name a failing that isn't actually wrongdoing on his part: Did you vote for Bush in 2004?

If you think I'm going to allow a nutcase Republican in the White House again, you are out of your mind! These people are unhinged, and dangerous. Obama may not be perfect, but no way am I letting them get into the highest office in the land. If Republicans take over the Senate, they'll have Congress, and the White House. Every far Right legislation they want passed, will be passed! It will have inrecosiable damage. Then there's all the fringe Tea Partiers in there.

I've never said this before, but there's no way around it: if you care for your country, you'll vote for Obama. The stakes are way too high.

None of those nutjobs is anywhere near the nomination. It's going to be Romney, and he's basically Obama, but white and with an R after his name.

Obama's already to the right of Bush on many issues, so saying "but but but the Republicans will be worse" is just tribal bullshit. Both parties are conservative, one pretends to not be as bad as the other.
