Why the President will be re-elected:
"Someone ought to study the Republican Party. I am not referring to yet another political scientist but to a mental health professional, preferably a specialist in the power of fixations, obsessions and the like. The GOP needs an intervention. It has become a cult......

This intellectual rigidity has produced a GOP presidential field that’s a virtual political Jonestown. The Grand Old Party, so named when it really did evoke America, has so narrowed its base that it has become a political cult. It is a redoubt of certainty over reason and in itself significantly responsible for the government deficit that matters most: leadership. That we can’t borrow from China.
"

A grand old cult - The Washington Post

and From Republican David Brooks:

Over the past week, Democrats have stopped making concessions. They are coming to the conclusion that if the Republicans are fanatics then they better be fanatics, too.
The struggles of the next few weeks are about what sort of party the G.O.P. is — a normal conservative party or an odd protest movement that has separated itself from normal governance, the normal rules of evidence and the ancient habits of our nation.
If the debt ceiling talks fail, independents voters will see that Democrats were willing to compromise but Republicans were not. If responsible Republicans don’t take control, independents will conclude that Republican fanaticism caused this default. They will conclude that Republicans are not fit to govern.
And they will be right.

But will Independents be smart enough to place the blame with the Republicans/Tea Partiers/conservatives, or will they just blame the president because he's a singular figure and it's easier?

I can't say that I have much confidence in the intelligence of the American electorate. In a situation like this, I hope that my lack of confidence is wrong, but presently I am not optimisitic about the future of our country.

Maybe she wouldn't have even tried any major health care initiatives, given her earlier experience. I was so not interested in her in the primaries I paid no attention to what she said, so I don't really know what she was saying about healthcare then.

I honestly think a Hillary presidency would have been worse because she would have just galvanized the wacko Right making it impossible to get anything accomplished. Does anyone recall how the Right killed HillaryCare? There is no way we would gotten Health Care Reform passed had she become president. The influential Wall Street Journal editorial page engaged in a National Enquirer like campaign to totally destroy here with lies and innuendo and it worked.

YES!!!!!! All the haters will not because they have gotten caught up in the news media. The news media is a monster in itself, but thats a whole different story. Sure he has not done everything he wanted to do. Damn give him time, this WAS his first term for crying out loud and lets be real he has had to endure more HATRED, SLANDER and RACISM then any other President. But also in his first year he has done things that other Presidents have not been able to do in their full terms. So lets give him another term!

During the primaries Senator Clinton's and President Obama's healthcare proposals were nearly identical. The only difference was the President, then a candidate, was against the individual mandate except for children. He has since changed his position.

that I will vote for Obama in the
US presidential elections of 2012

As I am not a US citizen I guess that makes sense :biggrin1:

Before you chastise me for a useless post,
give a good read to most posts in this thread;

I will. Do you really want the guys back who created the whole financial mess with the deregulation of investment banks. Oh and by the way when those investment banks were about to fail, they all became commercial banks so they could get government protection. All but Lehman Bros. It was to late for them.

Just a PS, they gave us two wars that Obama is trying to escape from.

Obama and the Democrats have sounded their own death knoll...it is loud and definite...I give thanks...ANY Repubican will do over this crap.
The Republicans signed their Death KNELL by voting as a block for the Ryan plan that dismantles medicare for anyone under 55, I'm 54.

or...will they simply blame the President because he is...well...the President...a.k.a the man in charge...who seems to have over-promised and under-delivered?

Domisoldo, that's disingenuous, and I think you know it. The president isn't a dictator. The U.S. has what one might call a robust Legislative branch.

Not only that, but every president in history, in some way or another, has over-promised and under-delivered on certain issues. Alas, when hate is more important than the facts why should they pay attention to such details?

I swear, with all of the irrational reasoning going on among the electorate it's hard to stay optimistic.
