Im a cocky dude I always told myself I had a big dick but never really thought it. But I was looking thru a thread about how pornstars sizes are exaggerated and I come to find that I'm about the same as most "Big dick" stars. I'm 8.5 inches hard.....is that really big. But yes, assuming it's accurate and truthful, then 8.5" is well above average.

I suppose it's understandable that if a man grows up in a fairly restrictive environment with no opportunities to compare himself to other young men, then he will not know what is big and what is not big. I would have thought those environments were few and far between these days, but there you are.

Now you just have to make sure that your head doesn't grow equally as oversized because of it.

I agree with Incognito in that it's difficult to say if you are 8.5 with no pics to compare.
I also agree with 808 in that if you haven't had an environment or opportunity to observe others naked then you wouldnt know any better. I always avoided such situations at school or in my teens thinking I was young & undeveloped & short for my age. It wasn't till I was 18 that I changed, environment changed & I began getting compliments on my size. I've been in a relationship which for the main has been monogamous for 20 years, but here & other sites I'm frequently told I'm big at 9"s. Still, because it's mine & I see it regularly I don't think it is big. Hell I'm not even sure it's 9"s!!! Lol.
However, the one thing that I always advise folk about getting too hung up on size is that... It means not a jot your size or girth if you don't expand your experience in how to use it. The biggest cock on the planet might not provide the right pleasure to a person if it's owner doesn't engage someone's mind (which is STILL the biggest & most important sexual organ). Don't get hung up on how big you are/are not - focus on how good you are with it, & with your mind.

the only time i've ever compared myself was through porn and i think thats the case for most men, especially in my generation who grew up with such easy access to the internet

Really? That strikes me as odd. I mean, I saw my mother and grandmother naked a lot growing up, but don;t really remember their bodies. They had large breasts; I couldn't say how large. Grandma was thin, Mommie was fat. Grandma had light skin, Mommie was dark. Grandma had lots of moles and birthmarks. This is the full extent of my memory of their naked bodies. I remember a few friends' mothers similarly. Weight range, skin tone, markings, whether their breasts were larger or smaller, but not how large, or how small. I remember one friend's mother had really pointy nipples. So, it always strikes me as odd that so many men here seem to know how they compare to other men, especially men they don't know well, such as acquaintances from school, or fellow members at a gym.

This is precisely what I expect, but do not know. I imagine most men only get to compare their erections to ones seen in porn, and perhaps to a father or brother they've seen with morning wood.

I don't see anything strange about that happening, but I think there might be lots of dudes who feel uncomfortable asking other dudes to let them see their nads, and I also think many dudes have few or no close friends or cousins or siblings. You don't really have much to go on if you only have two or three people to compare to. They could all be close in range to you, or the whole little group could run the gamut, and in either of those two cases, you still wouldn't know how you generally compare to other men.

okay so... there are a number of different age groups on this site, cross-sectioned with various other demographics. i think that younger men/teens who were born into the internet-enabled generation have a very skewed view of what large is. i'm 7.3ish by 5.7ish and when i first joined this site i was depressed about how small i thought i was. granted there are a lot of much larger men on here, but i think i can relate to how Ocean1 feels... you think you're tiny because of all the porn you watched, and coming to this site can sorta make you do a double-take and reconsider the reality of your size on the spectrum. yes this post is probably ego-fueled, but is that so bad? a guy going through the psychological transition of "i'm not hung like donkey kong" to "i'm bigger than 499/500 guys" probably needs some reassurance along his psychological transformation (those are not real stats, please don't treat them as such).
