For a long time I've had a general awareness that the porn world was a lot more gay-and-especially-lesbian-friendly than the "real" world. But had not encountered many industry statistics, and found the AEBN database to be quite informative. At last count there were more than 88,000 hardcore porn titles for pay-per-minute viewing. 22% of these are on the gay side of the site, 78% on the straight side. But then I went through the straight side and found that LBT-- that is lesbian, bisexual, and transgender-- content accounts for 9% of the total. So purely heterosexual content titles are only 69% (!), and much of that includes girl-girl content without being labeled bi. Why such a low number? You might say that only 5% of people ID as gay and lesbian but bi-curiosity is rampant in the rest of the population, as a fantasy along with many other porn fantasies. These porn stats don't necessarily tell us anything much about real world behavior. But I think that possibly 31% of the sex that is happening on any given night is same-sex, even if nowhere near than percentage of people ID as gay or lesbian. In which case porn reflects the bisexuality of consumers.
