Why is it that everyone hates the USA? We defend liberty, we stopped hitler, we saved the UK, and the rest of Europe. Without our entry into the war, sites like this would not be allowed and everyone over there would salute Hitler, this would be the Large Penis Nazi Socialist Group, no Jews, Gays, Mentally Disabled, or Russian Communists allowed.

God Bless the USA, and the liberty we preserve in the world, freedom is a great thing even when people destory themselves, at least they had a choice!

Your comment is probably exactly why 'some' people are anti-american.

I am NOT anti-american but the assumption that the US 'saved' the world is what riles people up. Where were the heros of the USA when their Canadian allies joined the Brits in the war?

The allies without the US fought a fantastic fight and the war simply ended sooner with US intervention, which makes you wonder why they did'nt join Britain and Canada to begin with and thus likely resulted in a shorter war.

Ask Norway who they believe saved them...it's not the US that gets a free gift of a xmas tree for the capital each year.

Ask the French if they have more respect for the US or for the UK or indeed for their own resistance fighters.

The Brits feel that the Battle of Britain was one by the resolve of Brits, not by the US coming into the war.

Europe appreciates the American contribution but no more so than ANY other allied nation.

So, the US did NOT save the world or win the war for everyone else, they contributed at a time when many lives were already lost, when the cost of the war was already a burden, when morale was on both sides of the conflict at an ebb.

The Americans essentially were the straw that broke the camels back, and to say that you are the world saviours?....vile, disgraceful and inaccurate.

Maybe they just can't help laughing at those Americans making stupid comments such as we ...'SAVED THE UK.' Remember the Allies held off the Nazis for nearly three years before American decided to act! Remember, also the United Kingdom gave the world Parliamentary democracy, but we would't be so arrogant as to make the statements such as the above!! It's not hated of American, rather than that ridiculous notion that the US has been sent to save the world like some sort of Marvel comic book hero.

Hum hum, WWII is definitely a great accomplishment of the Allies.

But please tell me which war the US won after WWII and how and where they preserved liberty, maybe just South Korea. Vietnam was a desaster. Afghanistan and Irak are in a mess and their society is far from being free, in spite of G.W. Bushs idiotic statements on "liberty".

I think - as a friend of the US, nota bene - the track record after WWII is poor. This may have several different causes. One is for sure that - given the essential incapacity in communicating with non english speakers and in understanding local realities - the US were not able to get to the people and relied mostly on dictators and money.

Start by learning languages. Listen to the real outside world. And then you'll see.

    Wow where to start...

I wouldn't say without the USA the war would of ended quicker, we lost 17 million men, if you take them out of the equation, there is not doubt hitler would of held the line at the german border.

Eurotop- How can you even begin to talk about freedom, your country remained neutral in the war and let hitler take over and kill people in all the surrounding countries, the swiss had no balls in coming out against a dictator and thug regime. Being 50% gay your country would of allowed you to be executed, no?

Surely you can't critique the usa cause we don't know a certain language?!?! Many of us do, just don't know your language, maybe that upsets you I don't know...

I was not in favor of going into Iraq, but as for Afghanistan, the terroists have been hiding out there and given protection and in pakistan, we are giving women the right to vote and certainly defending many freedoms, we are in no way trying to "occupy" the country as some ridiculous people state.

How can you say the allies without the usa "held off" hitler, he marched into any country he wanted, and had people in london hiding in their basements. He controlled the seas and did what he wished. They held him off at the UK border, thats about it.

You know the honest truth is the haters above me simply don't like the usa cause we the top dog, its just like in sports, many people hate the yankees or cowboys, why cause they are number one, its easy to take a cheap shot at them. This is the cold hard truth guys. Hey, I admit it, we have some real jerks in the usa, but we have a heck of a lot of good people, and I've met plenty of snoody europeans, and a handfull of french elitists.

Oh dear,oh dear,oh dear!!..... Maybe if you refrained from 'top dog' and 'number one' you might START to get the bigger picture.Your knowledge of WW2 is lamentable. If anyone could 'claim' to have 'won' the war it could be the USSR,but even they needed the support of the Allies.....You'll be telling us next that the US invented the computer no doubt?! Try a touch of humility in your approach, esp in relation to the War and then back it up with some basic knowledge.

I believe in the tornado belt there are storm shelters, i think you would find yourself 'hiding' in basements if you had thousands of bombs being dropped randomly on your cities.

How dare you try to suggest that the british behaved like cowards.

When the war begun and Poland was invaded, France, UK and Canada declared war on Germany, what stance did the US take? Oh yes, that's right, 'it does'nt directly concern us'. How virtuous a position to take considering that nowadays you stick your oars in all over the place. I'm not saying that that is a bad thing now, but it could have been just a tad more helpful way back then.

Holding off the Germans at UK borders may indeed of been a triumph thanks to the extra security of having the English Channel cutting us off from the mainland rather than the sole strength and determination of the British people. Let's remember that Germany had help in their fight at sweeping across Europe, like chess, they occupied the middle ground, strategically they were in a good position to win with the help of the Italians and the Austro-hungarians and the Finns which protected their eastern and southern flanks, with only Scandinavia to the North, they only really ever had to contend with France and the UK, they took France easily because they stormtrooped it. Resistance remained throughout the conflict, a tribute to French bravery.

The Germans did not 'control' the waters either, if they had done then they could have taken the UK from any position and for the Brits to hold off the UK invasion+defend coastal waters+defend against Norwegian invasion was testement enough that the UK was no pushover.

Oh and sport? Talk more about that when you get a decent soccer team!

You could start by getting your basic facts correct and then move on to dropping the stupid topic. The US is death toll is estimated at 406,000, not 17 million.

People need to shut the fuck up about who saved who in wars they've only read about and concentrate on their own lives. Something they might actually have authority to comment on.

    Are they jealous of Americans....hardly?
Who on earth would be jealous of an anti-culture that when introduced into a foreign indigenous culture seeks it out and destroys it like a cancer?
Your citizens are uncouth, loud mouthed and rude.
Over excited and over enthused over fuck all.

A belligerent, loud mouthed bully endowed with more power that it knows how to use effectively and then uses with all the spite of a petulant brat hell bent on getting it's own way.

No the world is NOT jealous of the USA.
That laughing you hear...we are laughing At you, not with you.

Seriously, it's attitudes like this why people hate Americans. Christ, I hate Americans. Try living abroad and listening to how gross and obnoxious Americans act and sound. You'll get it pretty quick.

You got it. I love my country, but we're so-full-of-it arrogant it makes me want to put a gun to my head.

WOW maybe Europeans are jealous of the USA cuz they know how to get on with history and stop tooting their own horn on something that was 50+yrs ago.

Maybe they are jealous cuz they can actually find their own country on a map? Considering one study found 25% of Americans couldn't do that!

Maybe they are jealous cuz the majority of Europeans speak their native language and a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th language? Chances are if you are a native born American in a non immigrant family you do not speak and cannot speak a 2nd language fluently.

That was all sarcasm btw

I think Europeans are jealous of our low gasoline prices. But that's only cuz the $100,000,000,000 spent by the US military to secure the middle east (not including Iraq) isn't factored into our gasoline prices. Add anywhere from $0.25-$0.50 per gallon and it would be more realistic price.

Now besides WWII and the Marshall Plan why are Europeans jealous of the USA again?
