This question is in mo homophobic sense,I just curious to know! Why do gay guy dress like girls, walk like them, and high pitch their voices? You don't have to do that to like men. I know gay men that look straight but love men. I don't get it, why do it??

I think it is part: gay culture. And part: what society expects gay men to do to distinguish themselves from straight men. Maybe...it is some gay men's attempt at being contemptuous so they go to the extreme in attacking the bold masculine archetypes and rigid manly gender roles. Or maybe it is one gay man's natural personality or natural outward expression.

I am a gay guy. I don't dress like a gurl. I am 6'3". I wear a size 13 shoe. I don't have any contempt against the masculine status quo. (I am not afraid to wear pink, though.)

I am not afraid of effeminate gay men.

Because that's a part of them. There's no why.
When I was very young, I liked to wear my granny's heels sometimes, put scarfs around my head and act like it was my hair, walk like i was on the runway, put on make up on sometimes, paint my nails sometimes... It was before I even knew I was supposed to like girls. I didn't know what homosexuality meant.
I just liked it. It made me feel good.
Yet, i'm a masculine type of gay guy that likes masculine guys. I do not feel the need to dress like a woman outside. It's just fun to me to act like a girl sometimes and imagine having long hair. Privately.
For those who do it publicly, they just are themselves, that's a part of their personality. They enjoy dressing like girls way more than dressing like boys. Same thing with me, I enjoy dressing like a boy more than dressing like a girl. Dressing like a girl is for fun, it's not natural to me.
Here's your answer.

plenty of them are just like that. it is a little absurd to suggest that all gay men consciously speak with higher voices and act effeminate to "fit in" with other gays or "differentiate themselves" from straights when a significant number of them act this way from a very early age and actually face overwhelming pressure to be more masculine (that they, of course, will never live up to). it isnt wrong to suggest that social factors and conformity are involved in some way, but that is almost definitely not the whole story. the average (note that word) differences between straight men and gay men are real.

also pornstats, i know you didn't intend it as such, but statements like "you dont have to do that to like men" that are implicitly loaded with negative judgment towards those behaviors are arguably very homophobic, and i hope you will think twice about saying things like that in front of your gay friends, acquaintances and colleagues if you want to avoid upsetting them.

Why do you pose a question in which you contradict yourself? Obviously there are some gay men that are effeminate and many others that are not.

Conversely, there are straight men that are effeminate. Please explain that!

If you doubt that premise I offer up one glaring example:

Uh....

1.) I wear blue jeans, T-shirt, and I do black powder, skeet shooting, target shooting, I can fix any car on the road (I have several classic cars and sometimes have grease stains on my fingernails on Monday when I report to work that just wont wash out) I also do carpentry, plumbing and electrical. I work in IT, and I detest Cher. I could care less about American Idol, Ru Paul (is that even spelled right) and am about as masculine as you can get (cigars are nice once in a while), bournon is good for after work, and leave me along in my man cave for a few hours after work until I'm ready to mingle with the rest of society.

2.) Any more questions?

LOL - Sorry I'm in a bit of a mood.

And to answer the OP

because some men don't give a shit about gender stereotypes and laugh at life....in a dress and lipstick

lol, sorry man.. i understand, i just wanted to know why certain gays does take compared to others gays.

I wear makeup.

I do it because I can. I do it because I can play with my appearance.
I'm so comfortable with myself that I relish in the ability to create new looks for myself, knowing that I'm still me regardless of the exterior. It's fun.

The act of applying makeup takes time: 30 mins / an hour.. (because it's quite involved, foundation, blush, highlighter, eyeliner, mascara, etc)
So when I want to do it properly, the whole regime is a past-time in its own regard. Then, I get to wear a "new" face for that day. Even when I don't have a grand amount of time, it allows me to still modify my appearance to not appear tired.

Generally, I've found that to wear makeup well requires that you must know how to be an artist. Often, I understand that mentality when applying a face. However, those who still question it ("Why are you a man in makeup?") see only the paint, when I on the other hand, see myself as both the painter and the canvas.

I hope this helps.

Well everyone wear makeup, I'm talking about like dressing & high pitching their voice. I don't have a problem with it, I just wanna know why they do it

Er.....sorry if I got defensive - another post had my riled up. Valid question and one I am NOT qualified to answer. This might be fore folks with degrees in psychology ....? Gender Studies????

No offense taken, Pornstats. People just are who they are. I doubt if men fake it (except maybe on Ru Paul's Drag Race, which I've never watched). One of the great things about our society today is that we don't have to pretend to be butch or act straight. Some gays are butch, some are fem. Some gay men are offensive; some straight men are offensive. It's who we are.

Because I can. Because I choose to dress how I choose to dress.
Also, most men's clothes are boring.

For the voice thing, that's just a part of my nature in being gay.
If I lowered my voice to sound like a "bro," I'd have to fake it....and there's no benefit to being fake.

Everyone is brought up around different masculine/feminine influences. They're just biologically programmed to identiy with more femenine exposures. If a guy can be a "little" gay(bisexual) you better bet your ass that some guys can be suuuuper gay to the point of complete mental feminine identification. Do i think it's sexy? No. Is it normal? Yes. Do i respect it? Absolutely.

To Portnstats.

that is a very loaded question with lots of possible answers. I could pull up a chair to give you answers.

I am also curious as to why a man can be (straight) yet like to wear women's fashions / his wife's clothes panties etc.

there is a range of human behaviors along a spectrum. It is similar as the gay to straight spectrum. and bi in the middle. . there are people who are gay who are very fem. . and then there are the leather dudes who are in general into masculinity.

moving aside from gays . . then there are (transgender). . and intersexual people.

Some people have what they call (birth-sex). . or the physcial sex they are born with, yet self Identify as the opposite sex.

Then there are the drag queens, who's lives are much like a drama filled stage show.

Pornstats, you ask why do it??.. . I ask of you, why fuck women? Do you self identify as a heterosexual? I self identify as a masculine gay male, who likes masculine males. I like butch masculinity. . but it is a matter of personal preference, so much as it is (who I am and how I self identify).

Every gay, Bi, Or trans person here, would give you a different answer.
