like countryguy63 said.. it should be a freedom of choice.. this use to be a free country.. but when the state says you cant do something.. then we fight for our right to be free to do it. how would it be .if you only had one choice of the type of vehicle. or only one type of icecream.. only one brand and size of tv. people need to have to freedom to choice and not being told what you can and can not do.
if mariage was so sacred then why can you get married on the drop of a dime in vegas, and divorce the next..

Would have been WAY more simple to ask why some people are against marriage equality....
There are so many more reasons why same sex marriage is right and so few (like zero) reasons why its wrong.

Personally, I just think it is great that people are having this dialogue. 30 years ago only a brave few would even engage in this discussion. We have come a long way and people need to celebrate that.

Why do women want to vote so bad? I mean all the politicians are a bunch of dummies and crooks. It's such a pain in the ass to have to go to the polls. If I register to vote then I have to worry about getting jury duty. I mean why would any woman want to vote?

because marriage is not actually sacred. Its a contractual agreement. Maybe 100 years ago it was but now anyone can get married (except gays) and get divorced in 6 months or less. My personal feeling is that people get married more for financial security, to start a family, or because of social pressure. If that were not the case then why do 60% of marriages end in divorce? People are obviously getting married for the wrong reasons. I am happy for those who have made marriage work, and I think gay people should have the right to get married, but I dont see marriage as "sacred". It can be of course, but to a lot of people its not. At least not anymore.

By the way I think all of the bride shows, and dress shows, and wedding planning shows do SO much harm to society. Now women want to be a "princess for the day" and they want to plan this big extravaganza and they want the perfect wedding photo album. For some people weddings are nothing more then the ultimate party.

I agree with Seaside over the fuss about wedding days. It's bollocks - the marriage is important, not some fantasy wedding day (imo).

agree!
couples should elope and use the money that would be spent on "princess day" and use it to start a life together, buy a house or heaven forbid,,,save it for a rainy day.

a gay couple can live together in love for 50 years but, if one dies, a hated sibling they disowned in their teens and haven't spoken to since will have more inheritance rights.

a gay couple can live together in love for 50 years but a hospital can still refuse to give information and access, because legally they aren't family.

there are various other things too. straight people can get married and all of these rights become theirs, in one contract.

My husband and I had a beautiful wedding, on short notice to get under the wire before Proposition 8 passes in California. Financially, the only fixed cost was the fees paid to the State and County. It was held on the premises of a peace organization at no charge but we made a donation. It was officiated by a Zen master who also did not charge but we made a donation to his prison work. Despite short notice we had many friends there. Family were too far away geographically.

I posted this a few weeks back. Think it illustrates some of what you are saying (even though they hadn't been together for 50 years)

Because this country (USA) is supposed to be a free country, I if i wanted to get married I should have the right to marry the one that I love regardless of gender.I know what i just said everyone knows..Sometimes it hard to write what you are thinking..It is utterly ridiculous to live in a country divided into 50 States where a gay couples marriage is not binding by crossing a border to another State. I believe, and as much as I hate to throw in the government on a federal level, that a decision should be made on that level for the equality of marriage across the borders. Am i wrong for feelong or thinking that way ? Believe me as I am not a expert on the subject..Just my opinion..
