Why do I feel like I'm the only woman in the world to not wear make-up?

lol..I love that. Guys do say that dont they? "you dont need makeup" but I swear when I dont wear makeup my bf says I look tired. In fact a sign of good makeup to me is looking as if you dont wear makeup. I do correct color imperfections and I enhance my eyes but I certainly dont pile it on or wear lipstick or heavy powder.

I say if you dont want to wear it ..don't! If you feel good about yourself thats great.

This has to be one of my favorite posts of all time!
The best answer about makeup is that I wear it because it makes me feel good about myself and everyone else seems to appreciate how that manifests itself when I do wear make up. I'd look like a washed up crackhead without it (in my opinion). ;) Thank GOD for concealer!

I rarely if ever wear make-up. It just bothers my skin. Once in a blue moon I'll throw some eye shadow on or mascara for shits and giggles. Sometimes my best friend or my sister put make-up on me cause they are both obsessed.

I just got off the telephone with one of the most beautiful woman I know and we were discussing this subject...
She said she spends a lot of time on cleansers and treatments to bring out a natural glow to her skin.
On really special occasions she said she wears a tinted moisturizer, a dab of gray eye shadow and clear mascara and a wash of blush and lip balm mixed with lip pencil for a little color. She always looks radiant.

Sounds like a scene out of Blade Runner.

I'm kinda tempted to post a pic in this thread of what I looked like back in the day, when I actually wore black make-up when dressing up all spooky/goth. I eventually decided that it's a rare individual who can make that stuff look good.

If I dress all spooky anymore, more often than not I don't wear any make-up... but the occasions I do it's black eyeliner on the top/bottom to accentuate my almond eye shape, some base/powder to even my skin tone (naturally, I'm not trying to make my olive complexion white), and some dark red lipstick. *shrug* The times I wear make-up it's for fun, so I tend to do stuff that (to me) stands out

If you are on my friends list you can look in a private album and see what I look like with make up (and darker hair)

Agreed. In fact if I had to go with one product it would be concealer for my under the eye circles. Thank goodness for summer glow though, a lot of times if I get a tan I skip all of the foundation crap and just wear mascara.

In the winter however, I honestly feel like a zombie with no makeup on.

I stopped wearing it. It's just so much easier without it.
New friends call me 'hippie' though, which I'm not. Well, I guess that's the only consequence for me :)

But it feel good to read the messages from other women who don't wear make-up either.

Day to day I wear very little makeup because, well, I have very little reason to. My job doesn't require showpiece looks from me and frankly, I find it a bit impractical and expensive. Other times I am sure I fall into the too much category because I like to do weird and shocking things. It's not that I take it to Bobo the clown levels, but I can get a bit wild with colors and themes (esp. retro) that tend to catch a lot interest without context. Hell, I've shaved my head before just to make an idea of a look work.
(wig makers rejoice in-thanks to the spontaneous!)

For occasions when it reallly matters, I visit the MAC booths and let someone else worry about making me look good.

I can't really go anywhere without makeup...I don't wear much in a normal day though, just some eyeliner and mascara and foundation to cover my blemishes. I keep a pretty natural make up look. However, when I go for a night out or special occasions I'll cake it on lol. Can only pull this look off at night time though, looks terrible during the day.

This. I feel 'finished' and ready to go when wearing make up. Years ago I suffered from year-round chronic hayfever, with generally one bad attack per week. Even when I felt like death, putting on some slap and going out for a coffee helped me forget about how awful I felt.

Lol subgirrl! An easy rule to stick to if you wanna avoid the 'clown' look is either play up the eyes or the mouth - not both. If you favour smoky eyes, keep the lips neutral or if you're a fan of dark lippy keep the rest neutral. I'm a smoky eyes, pale lip gloss girl myself - just suits my face better.

Sounds like I've got at least one bit right then - although it's by accident rather than because I know what I'm doing . I like my lipstick to be pale. I use one that's only a tiny bit darker than my natural lip colour.

I'm still not entirely sure it's enough to save me from the clown look though .

God, the only thing sexier than a clown is a slut clown. Take me, subgrrrrrrl!

Ah, now that explains why those guys were giving me funny looks the other day!! They weren't thinking my makeup was strange - they were overwhelmed with lust by the slut-clown look!!

I've never looked at your gallery before now. Apparently, i was missing out!! That pic is seriously hot!!!
