I remember Gore Vidal saying in an interview that Europeans are far more mature about sex and sexuality. While North Americans have a neurotic attitude towards which can be seen with their infantile fixation with large breasts and penises.

But also big clocks are good for the vision impaired.
Size anxieties apply in some cases but not all. These days, a lot of North American males simply worry that if they allow their cocks to be on display — for example, in tight jeans or Speedos — people will assume they are gay. Yet it's not so long ago that straight guys wanted to show off their cocks — and they still do in other parts of the world,

As a straight man...not enough of a clamoring audience. I wish women had the same open visual attraction and public adoration for all penises as we do for all the varieties breasts and the like, because Id be spandexing, codpiecing, and gray sweatpanting on a semi regular basis. But reality is such things are only going to draw the oberwhelming attention from gay men and enforcers of public decency laws.
Some women very much do!

It's largely an American thing, pardon the pun. European men are far more comfortable about nudity and the human body and Dick size just isn't a big deal. In the US, we attach far too much attention to penis size. I always think of it like this: no one wants a huge ass, big belly, large nose...So why should a big clock be so desirable?

This logic does not hold up at all. First of all a lot of women want a big ass and a lot of men love big asses. Other body parts that some want bigger include breasts, lips and muscles. You could even include total body as in height. Men and women generally like men to be taller aka bigger.

Um... because we wear clothes. Because we're naked apes. If we had full coats of fur like all other primates clothes would be unnecessary except maybe shoes.

As we genetically engineer our species in the future it will be interesting to see if get furry again. (Chewbacca emoji)

I grew up in an era when guys were much more comfortable with nudity in male-only environments such as locker rooms, camping, and shared living arrangements, which became a part of my every-day life starting in college. A few more bashful guys would face away while changing, etc., but most of us had no inhibitions about interacting with others in situations where our dicks were on full display. It felt incredibly manly to show off that I had zero inhibitions about other guys seeing my penis.

Fortunately, I've continued to work out in gyms with open showers and have a set of friends who share my comfort level with nudity, so I'm able to still maintain these habits today (well, not during the lockdown, of course). For example, since we have open showers, thus normalizing locker room nudity, I don't feel the need to cover my penis when I walk between my locker and the shower.

For me, I’d say being raised in a conservative religious household where nudity was shameful and definitely frowned upon; then add being an introvert whose watched a ton of porn; then throw in me being on the “smaller side of the ruler” and the whole “penis size” insecurities...All that wrapped-up tends to cause me high anxiety when I’m expected to go nude.

I don't like my package and being nude is an issue for me.

It’s done to prevent utter chaos from breaking out. Although the majority of men in positions of leadership and power are hung, there are some who aren’t.

There would be economic, political, and social upheavals as those men were unseated and the hungs battled to fill the voids.

Haha I can’t manage to keep mine in my pants lol.

I would imagine if I had a penis similar to yours I would be walking around trying to show it off as well. Many men I know would be doing the same thing if they had a penis as yours. Not having a penis as yours would be a good reason why many men don't like to expose their penis for other to view. You have a good evening and stay safe.

If you're going to take your clothes off show your dick. If you're too shy or insecure keep your clothes on. It looks stupid otherwise.

There really needs to be some context added to the question.
A majority of men don't hide their penis. They just don't have a large enough flaccid penis or big enough balls to show underneath their clothing. It's an issue of censorship when it comes to TV and movies. At the gym, it's varying levels of personal and social discomfort.

This I have struggled with for years. In my job we wear thin khakis and if for whatever reason I become aroused, even alittle. I'm very noticeable. I try my hardest to conceal for professional purposes. Maybe 4/10 customer interactions, I will catch them looking. I have become more of a hider naturally over the years because of my job. Instinctively.
I fully understand your situation I am in the exact same place. I have had men and women catch them looking at my crotch
