Why do people judge the size of a flaccid penis?

Except in the gay culture, usually all that one man sees of another man's sexual anatomy is what he observes at the pool dressing room or at the gym. He sees the soft cock and that is often the basis for classifying/judging the guy. I would agree with most of what you had to say above except for the part about "an undressed man looks much like the dressed man". I have actually found this to be very untrue in many instances. I think you can attribute this to the fact most men do not wear very tight, fitted, or tailored clothes, so it is often hard to tell what a man will look like when they are undressed. While it is more common and almost expected for women (especially younger and more attractive women) to wear tighter clothes and show off what they have. So I often find that women do not look a whole ton different out of clothes than they do in clothes.

I have often been surprised by how a man looks undressed. There are several times where I have seen someone who is either skinny, dorky looking, or average looking take off their shirt and have a rocking body. I have also seen some very handsome and nice looking men who turned out to have average to rather out of shape bodies, not matching their otherwise great looks. I also find this true with body hair, tatoos, piercings and what. I have been surprised by who has had the above and who has not. At least as a gay man, I really love and appreciate the fact you never know what a man truly looks like until you get him out of his clothes.

And as far as soft penises go, I think that mostly is strait male thing. As a gay male I very much appreciate and enjoy when a guy has a rather large falccid penis, but no more than a mans errect penis. And I would never turn a guy down strictly because he does not have a large flaccid penis.

I think flaccid penises are judged on what they are likely to become. Someone who is excited by larger sizes would probably be more excited to see a flaccid cock bigger than some erect cocks they've seen, than to see a small flaccid cock that "might" grow to a exponential size.

Okay. Its irrelevant. I'm always the optimist. Their are many situations where men are judged on it. On this site. In the gym/locker room. In general conversation. The list goes on.

Judgement in general is something I find irritating. I just think to a man's flaccid size is inane.

A guy who hangs long is something nice to see. A guy who is a grower is a mystery.

Why belittle? Why not just enjoy and wait for the potential? ;-)

Well, I don't really think it is much of an issue. Except with those people who like big a large penis during intercourse. If the guy is 7 inches or so when flaccid, you already know that it is at least that, and probably bigger when erect. You even say it is "nice to see". So if that is an important thing, then already knowing it will be larger is very important to that person.

I will at times mention when I see a large flaccid penis to my fuck buddy, and tell her that it was about 8 inches flaccid. Imagine what it will be like hard. She will say "Wow, I would like to see that"....or "I'm not sure I would be able to take it".

Personally I never judged the a flaccid penis size.. I ve seen many penises in the locker rooms and only two erect penis in real life, two friends of mines penises... Shower or grower - that is the question. We have all inherited so many hangups from childhood unfortunately - and these conditions put on us as babies stay with us for life! The damage done to us all as small children - teenagers and coming of age adults - bears the scares of us developing insecurites and low self esteem - at times in our lives.
