Why do all straight guys always think gay guys are coming on to them?

I dunno... but while i'm thinking of a suitible answer, perhaps you can ponder for me:

Why do all gay guys always come on to straight guys?

Why are all gay guys always so effiminate?

Why is it that all any gay guy ever thinks about is sex?

Why do all gay guys have AIDS?

Why are all gay guys perverted child molesters?

And when you're done with that, ask yourself: Why am I asking these questions that are so obviously biased and cannot have rational answers? Could it be to ensite a sensationalist response?

Well.......

They don't.

Nice generalization, that is like asking "Why do all gay men drive Jettas?"

Although it may be representative of a portion of the populus, it does not cover everyone.

Gay or straight, it is usually obvious when someone is hitting on you.

Well.......
Ehh...a lot of times it seems they are. LoL...I know all gay guys don't.

Most gay guys are cool, to me. But you can kinda tell when they are interested in you. For the most part, gay guys approach you just like they'd approach any other guy. The problem is that most straight guys take that as "coming on" and they feel threatened. The reality of the situation is that if a gay guy knows you're straight, even if he does like you he will respect you and not hit on you...unless you give him a reason to look at you different.

Paranoia. Mostly unfounded.

Last year my boss told me he didn't mind being around lesbians but had difficulties with gay men. I informed him that's because he's afraid a gay man will flirt with him. He agreed. I asked him if a gay man had ever flirted with him (no, of course not). "That's because they know you're straight". I told him he had absolutely nothing to worry about.

Well,

I dont know about men, but I have throughout the years had a number of lesbians hit on me. I didnt think I was giving them any particular signals that I might be that way. It used to bother me until I had a male friend tell me that perhaps they just found me attractive and decided to give it a try. I am also not going to pull out a pistol an shoot them either! LOL! I just generally let them know that I dont roll that way. I am "strictly dickly" as the expression goes! LOL!

Gut reaction: Wishful thinking for some straight guys who have secret fantasies....

vs.

A reflective answer: From 24 to 30, I had about five straight guys think that I was hitting on them or discretely request an "encounter", when I had no interest in them at all. At that time, I did worry about my self-presentation and how not to give false impressions -- no unusual physical contact, etc... (For example, one guy was 6'2" and 250+ pounds and pre-maturely bald... a cute personality, but I never had any interest). Even with these preventative measures, I finally realized I was giving off ambiguous vibes because I would take an interest in their lives. I'm thining that i'm being polite whereas they perceived me as some cheery that-good-boy/girl-Friday type... So, I had these "straight" men feeling emotionally open around me and becoming unnerved when they sensed some form of "connection". Signals got crossed et voila ....

So, I do believe that in some cases, straight men may think that gay men are hitting on them b/c of a difference in relational styles...

Not all straight guys believe that gay guys are hitting at them (let alone all the times). The ones who are unsure about their sexuality do.

For a straight guy who is sure about who he is, mostly he doesn't even realize that you are hitting at him, even when you are indeed dropping hints so heavy that can sink a Titanic! :biggrin1:

I think this is just another case that the most homophobic guys are always those who have an attraction for guys but who try desperately to repress it!

Reminds me of a story one of my teachers told me. One of her male students went into a gay male prostitution area thinking that someone would try to pic him up, and then he could write about having someone pick him up for class credit.

No one even looked at him twice.

I don't know whether to be happy or upset if I didn't get hit on in that situation. :biggrin1:

I've had gay guys hit on me. I doesn't bother me at all and in fact I take it as a compliment.
