I only use speedos when at the pool if I wanna do laps!
For leisure and the beach, I use the boxer type :p

Minimal coverage. I have recently switched to Kiniki tan through briefs because they are lighter in weight and don't feel as restrictive.

I hate when you get into the pool with board shorts on and the whole suit is filled with air, then getting out, the suit drips and take forever to dry. With a speedo, you towel yourself off and you're all set. I agree with HorseHung, I don't care what the rest of the people think or wear!

I am a serious swimmer and love the feeling of swimming in one, as well as how it looks on me. At most I'll settle for square-cut shorts or jammers, but I definitely prefer a Speedo overall. I usually don't care about what other people think at the pool (same with wearing briefs in the locker room). I feel like there's no comparison when it comes to board shorts. Maybe it's fine if you are just lounging in a pool and not trying to move around, but board shorts make me feel sluggish when I've tried to swim in them.

If you are more than a casual swimmer, a speedo (of any length--jammer, boxer, bikini) is necessary. Swimming laps with a regular suit is like tying a parachute behind you. Also, I agree with the other guys who said they like the way they feel. And though some women think they are "gay," other women find them sexy.

As someone who swims 4x a week, I'd never swim in anything else.

Swimming laps in a regular bathing suit is akin to riding a bike (for longer than a couple miles) in jeans. There's a reason why we don't play basketball in Chuck Taylor Converse high tops anymore. Design, thank goodness, is not all about marketing. It's about comfort and speed and sometimes (in the case of bike shorts) preserving your jewels.

Having said that, I will wear a speedo at a beach in Italy or Spain but regular board shorts to a beach in America. So I guess I am guilty of succumbing to what the current president calls "mob rule" in that regard.

I used to succumb to " mob rule" and wear board shorts or at least mid-thigh swim shorts on US beaches. Now I wear a speedo unless I am with a family member who would be uncomfortable if I did. My wife is fine with me wearing a speedo on the beach, so the only time I wear shorts is on the rare occasions I am with

I was given mine by my dad. He had two pairs but only needed one. The legs are a bit stretched out and they’re old (from the 70s/80s), but they’re comfortable.
I kept an old suit from the 70's, 100% nylon, and still looks great. The leg elastic is shot but tight enough to still use in the pool. Back in those days, a suit was between $5-10, and the quality was excellent. As long as one rinsed the suit in water, it was good to go for the next swim. Those were the days before lycra.

Yep they’re good.

My leg elastic is really shot and loose. But they have no holes in them so I can’t justify replacing them. They’re still good.
