California in particular can't come up with affordable housing for poor and average Americans. Why does the left oppose immigration sanity?

Obama reduced the flow of illegal immigration by 20 percent over 8 years, doubled the size of the border patrol, installed more fencing and technology and deported more than W did and that Trump did in a comparable period. Unlike Trump, all of his deportations stood up in court and he did not have to go get them and bring them back. No children died in custody on his watch.

The premise of the thread is poor, and the opening post poorly written and documented. A wall in not sanity when 2/3's of the illegals come in on visas and overstay. The drugs are mostly shipped by freighter and airplane. Why to Republicans reject reality for fantasy?

The wall could cost $1 and Pelosi and Schumer would refuse to allocate that dollar. Why is that?

Sure they do. They oppose a wall. They oppose deportations. They actively protect hardened criminals from deportation. They voted against Kate's Law. Many of them want ICE eliminated. It's unsustainable.

Missing the point. We oppose solutions that do not work, not solve the problem, that are inflexible and wasteful. Many wall loving Texans are already lawyering up to save farm lands and river access they have had for generations. The U.S. will wind up overspending for land plus absorbing years and dollars on courts. ALL eminent domain cases are slow and subject to appeal. WE do not oppose deportations. The only deportations we oppose are the DACA people, already registered some years ago. THat's it. ICE is not going anywhere but they have become storm troopers and if they treated you the same way you would be shitting bricks and lawsuits. I certainly would. They need to be made real police with the same accountability. Katie's law was a shield to undermine civil rights and immigration protections. It is dreck. Usually if a law is named for someone instead of titled according to purpose someone is scamming you.

Wrong is wrong even when its cheap. Your missing the point of the Game. Funding for the wall can be had - at least some, maybe a lot. Trump the great dealer has not offered a deal and rejected two out of hand because they upset his base. You gotta give to get - it has worked well in this country for most of its history. The other party does not do your bidding without incentive, you have goals, we have goals. Nancy is already plotting what she can give and she know what she can get and she knows Don need a score too. It may take a little longer because Trump is so fucking stupid, but she will get him there, Seriously, wait and see.

For a cinematic explanation watch "The Lion in Winter," the chess match between Henry and Louis. Perfect.

No need to be a jerk. You were nice last night. What happened?

I'm nice today, but you gotta do a little effort other than just spout Foxisms. Seriously, I'm sorry if I came off as harsh, but it takes a mutual effort. You are not sourcing your questions. Why should I source my answers. I'll try to relax. Deep breath.

What should Trump have to "give" in order for Nancy and Chuck to protect our border? Are they representing Americans or foreign immigrants?

That sir is how politics works. Andrew Lloyd Weber coined the song for Evita, "Politics, the art of the possible." Conflicting interests and needs are ironed out together. Everyone gets something for who they represent - Americans.

I simply asked for a citation. You then became insulting and now you're blaming me for your response .

This thread is a big reminder.....

Many conservatives have a loose relationship with facts. The right-wing denial of what most people think of as accepted reality starts with political issues: As recently as 2016, 45 percent of Republicans still believed that the Affordable Care Act included “death panels” (it doesn’t). A 2015 poll found that 54 percent of GOP primary voters believed then-President Obama to be a Muslim (…he isn’t).

Then there are the false beliefs about generally accepted science. Only 25 percent of self-proclaimed Trump voters agree that climate change is caused by human activities. Only 43 percent of Republicans overall believe that humans have evolved over time.

And then it gets really crazy. Almost 1 in 6 Trump voters, while simultaneously viewing photographs of the crowds at the 2016 inauguration of Donald Trump and at the 2012 inauguration of Barack Obama , insisted that the former were larger. Sixty-six percent of self-described “very conservative” Americans seriously believe that “Muslims are covertly implementing Sharia law in American courts.” Forty-six percent of Trump voters polled just after the 2016 election either thought that Hillary Clinton was connected to a child sex trafficking ring run out of the basement of a pizzeria in Washington, D.C., or weren’t sure if it was true.

Why Are Conservatives More Susceptible to Believing Lies?
