Of course, but certain jobs are tip dependent, like waiting tables and haircutting. Go to work for an upscale restaurant where the food is really expensive. People that go to those places often drink a lot which will raise the bill even higher, giving you an even better tip. And don't forget to push those expensive desserts.

Im sorry to offend any body not white. Its not my intentions Im sorry. I have got some very nice tips from black people...its just so irriating....and it IS THE TRUTH...sometimes the truth hurts........my 90 percent is a little high...ill admit

note a few things. do ethnics really tip less, or do you notice when they don't tip right more than you notice white people not tipping right. do you serve mostly ethnic people?? maybe everybody tips horribly, but if you're seving mostly ethnics it would look like they do it more. be honest with yourself, do you give them the same respect you give white customers? if your line of thinking is that ethnic people tip less, i wonder if this affects the service that you provide to them. i've been in restaurants where a bouncy, upbeat, happy, smiley waiter will be that way at another table than come to mine with a lifeless "what do you want" sort of attitude. they may not realize it, and it may not be because i'm black, maybe they're having a bad day. without actual numbers, (the 90% sounds like a rough estimate) and without seeing you in action, we can't tell you YOU get tipped less from ethnic people, but to say that all of us tip poorly is slightly offensive. a behavior you see exhibited in some is being labeled behavior for all.

well this could could go in circles for days, ethnic people make up a LARGE portion of the lower class, maybe they can't afford to tip you.

This has been the case with me several times and I am white as hell. (Actually part white, the rest is Choctaw Indian.)

it may be lack of math skills. i've been to restaurants where i had to figure the tip on my own (thank god for calculators on cell phones, i'm no math wiz) but i've been to places where the tip is NOT written on the bill. certain ethnicities perform poorly in school so maybe you need to give their math teachers a slap in the face!!

I can't speak for Asian countries as I have never visited one but in Mexico, Italy, and most of Europe the tip is included in the bill. As a Black person I can tell you we frequently receive wretched service even in fine dining establishments. Perhaps, some waiters have it in their heads that minorities tip poorly and it shows in the shoddy service they give. I'm sure you don't realize yur bias, but we do.

good point about choosing a different career path, but in fairness he did acknowledge that he does or atleast used to give less-than-stellar service to minorities.

on the first senetence, i've NEVER worked in a place that went on tips because i know how cheap EVERYBODY is. i worked in a cafe that accepted but didn't require tips for a few months. i would fix, modify, change, customize drinks and coffees and cafe au laits and roca mocachinos and often broke the rules so the customer could have their own choice of milk or an extra shot of espresso, and some of these would be 40, 50 dollar orders but the biggest tip i got (aside from $5 from a lovely woman named jane) was a dollar. 50 dollar order+ $1 tip= an angry marleyisalegend. again, that's why i never work in restaurants because i know how cheap people can be, and others you could bend over backwards and fly to the moon for them and they'll still tip horribly.

The only "group" of people that left bad tips on a pretty reliable basis was the after-church crowd on Sundays at lunch. I always got the greedy families on Sundays!

Perhaps it's your dumbass attitude coming across. Let me educate you kid, I am an Iraqi which I suppose would fit your prejudicial word of ethnic; I tip and I tip quite generously. Minimum is at 20% and then rounded up to the next dollar. For delivery persons it is on a different tier-UPS is five dollar standard, ten dollar large package, fifteen dollars if more than one package. Grocery delivery is three dollars per bag.

Let me take you elsewhere- I tip cab drivers 20% rounded up, plus an additional dollar, two if they were human. I know a few cab drivers and they say the worst tippers tend to be white bitches and snooty nose white boys. Of course, it's well known that cabbies don't pick up Hispanics or blacks or any non-white (and no Jews either) because they clearly all live in the bad sections of the city.

In hotels, I leave five dollars daily-I frown upon leaving a twenty at the end of a week long stay; since there are often different persons cleaning each day. I receive thank you messages regularly on the desk in the rooms.



Let's see now-Ethnics (whatever they are) don't tip you properly,and neither does white trash (do you even understand what white trash means?), old people should be paying-listen up sonny, you young folks need to learn to pay your own way.

off topic but the after-church crowd can be THE WORST!! i started working at a movie theater when passion of the christ came out, and you could NOT tell a church that it was sold out and there were no more seats. i had pastors and old ladies cursing me out to the high heavens in the lobby because there weren't any seats left

i mean these pastors knew every 4-letter word in the book like "what the fuck do you mean there are no seats left" and "why the hell isn't it playing in more auditoriums"
i swear to god this was pastors cursing at me. and when the movie was over, they congregated in the hallways just like they do at church. nobody could get into the auditoriums and we basically had to have our police officers escort them all out.
