But don't worry about the finding a girlfriend. I will give you some advice:
It is much better if she finds you

I'm not entirely convinced I agree with the premise. If you take all the gay males in a city, and add to them all the males would even consider having a sexual encounter with another male (bi-sexual, bi-curious, drunken "curiosity" etc) the number is still going to be considerably smaller than the amount of males who will only have a sexual encounter with a woman.

That being said, to agree with most of what has been posted here, I would add the word anonymous. It's easier for men to have anonymous sex because, like was just said, "women need a reason... men need a place." I don't think that boils down to being gay or straight either. I think men are more willing to engage in sexual acts that are outside the bounds of a traditional relationship than women are, period. Orientation aside because it isn't like only gay guys like having lots of sex. Obviously straight men do as well.

The real reason behind all this is very simple and very darwinian and economic at the same time.
Sex is a way to reproduce.
A man can reproduce virtually as much as he wants, he can impregnate a dozen of women in only 1 day (theoretically speaking of course).
A woman can only reproduce once every 9 or 10 months or so (I don't know how long it takes after a pregnancy...)

So it's simple: a woman has to be more picky.
Evolutionairy speaking it's better for men to be wired to have sex as often with as many different women as possible. For women it's better to find a good man with good genes and consider their options.
You could say it's a market of supply and demand.


I hear people commenting on this "But that's a long time ago, now you don't have to get pregnant and you can have sex just for fun." True, but then again, are big muscles still an important feature for humans to survive? 3 million years of evolution are not whiped out by 3000 years of civilization I guess.

You hit it on the head...it is simply because men are men. Stereotypically speaking, we are more willing to go for the no strings because we let our instinct and passions rule over the logical and we are dealing with someone else who is in the same frame of mind who wouldn't feel used the same way many women would by such an encounter.

No fuss, no muss. Just one and done.

yeah. as the average woman jokess, the average guy would sleep with just about anything after a beer. the average woman is a lot more picky.

think about how we evolved. a guy can impregnate a dozen females a week at no cost to himself. a female has to give 9 months + several years investment to the guy she sleeps with. good reason for her to choose good genetic stock and a loyal personality.

it's not just about expectations. as i posted earlier, a lot of it is the result of tens of thousands of years of evolution on our instinctive desires.

I am not "gay", and I can't speak for anyone other than myself, but I am like Ol'Clinton, I don't see it as having sex for someone to suck me off.
