So, I don't actually have any argument to match the title, because that isn't my goal.

I want people who plan on voting for Obama (Or for those who aren't American and think Obama is the right candidate) to list their reasons for why Obama should be, and McCain shouldn't. Nice and organized please. Perhaps in a list form or something. Also, please cite sources when you can.

For those of the opposite opinion, PLEASE try and refrain from posting in this thread unless it is to point out an incorrect fact. (Example, if someone said Palin made a list of books to ban, but we know that she only inquired about banning books.)

And don't worry, I'll be making a thread for you guys too.

I hope nobody hates me for doing this, or thinks it's a waste of time.

Well I'll start with why McCain should not be president:

TruthNews.us Blog Archive McCain Lies About Grabbing Pork
John McCain says that he's never voted for a pork barrel bill in his 26 years in the senate; an obvious lie that can be proven here: http://www.nytimes.com/2006/02/18/p...amp;oref=slogin

http://thinkprogress.org/2008/03/08...ers-to-the-fcc/
John McCain's campaign tells the American public that there's no opposition to his actions on behalf of campaign contributor Bud Paxson, and sends out two letters to the FCC about their vote. Both illegal and deceptive.

John McCain lies about Mitt Romney's voting record on Iraq (this is a very slanted, conservative news site, I know, but it's still verifiable by primary sources, like YouTube).

http://pundits.thehill.com/2008/07/...wounded-troops/
McCain lies about Obama's alleged "media visit" to wounded troops in Germany (a lie that was then repeated by many major conservative news outlets, with no retraction yet printed).

http://www.crooksandliars.com/2008/...day-in-arizona/
McCain opposed MLK day as a holiday in Arizona, then lies about it.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/josep...i_b_115693.html
McCain says that the oil from off-shore drilling will make gas prices drop in a matter of months; an outright lie that he now acknowledges is a falsehood.

http://blogs.tnr.com/tnr/blogs/the_...p-at-swich.aspx
McCain says that every time we cut taxes it raises revenue; an outright lie.

McCain lies about Obama's tax plan and who it will raise taxes for.

McCain says "I'm the only one the special interests don't give any money to," after getting 1.2 million from the telecom industry and 91,000 from Big Oil (Exxon, Chevron, but no small oil companies).

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/...er_n_88304.html
McCain lies about an email from Jack Abramoff during the height of the scandal.

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalr...n-backtrac.html
McCain says he won't raise Social Security taxes and criticizes Obama for doing so; then he says he'll raise Social Security taxes.

http://thinkprogress.org/2008/06/17...ing-moratorium/
McCain says that he won't bow to special interest groups by opening offshore drilling, then opens offshore drilling.

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalr...n-in-colom.html
McCain says he won't criticize Obama while overseas, then criticizes Obama while overseas

http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/arch...02/1179920.aspx
McCain says he's not an expert on economic policy and "need to be educated", then claims to be an expert on economic policy.

McCain claims he has "Supported Every Investigation" in Katrina, but actually voted against the investigations.

McCain claims that he never said Iraq would be easy, but he's on tape saying Iraq would be easy.

And last of all: http://brighthall.aol.com/2008/07/3...ys-he-wont-lie/
McCain lies about lying.

On to the racism! So, in 2000, McCain said "I hate the gooks, I will hate them as long as I live." I will grant you that if anyone has a reason to hate based on race, this man has it in spades. The question is, is this kind of racism what we want in a president? Just because it's source is in his torture, it does not mean that it will be any less harmful while he's the president. If this is the man who is going to shape our policy with regards to North Korea, I most certainly do not want him to be racist. If you'd like more information on how racial slurs by the president can hurt the American public, you can look here: http://eyeteeth.blogspot.com/2008/0...nt-matters.html

In addition to his lies and racism, his policy stances are incongruous, harmful, and often contradict themselves;

McCain should NOT be president because he's a lying piece of shit beholden to moneyed, neo-con special interests and his outdated, ill-proven, trickle-down economic theory (Reagan hold overs) has been a failure for 30 years and will continue to be so.

Obama is the American dream story come true! He has dedicated his adult life and professional career to helping people and enriching the lives of those around him through hard work and the commitment of unifying community resources to help those in need.

Excellent article in support of Obama, with citations.

I think it's pretty stupid if they think it is supposed to help win a debate.

In the leadership and experience part, it literally says that Obama is a better choice for world affairs and muslim relation BECAUSE OF THE COLOR OF HIS SKIN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously...

Yeah, that is a bit silly and all, but there are still other seemingly good points in the article. (I'm not a fan of Kos though, just from what I've heard from others at least.)

That may be a bit silly, I admit, but consider:

Racism doesn't just exist among white people. Seeing a leader in the US who looks more like them, and has a similar name, may make them more comfortable and willing to deal.

Anyhow, I take it that's the only problem you could find with it?

My support is going to Obama because for one i feel like he has the ability to bring this country together. People often consider him a "black" candidate but he's MIXED, and i feel that fact alone gives him an advantage because he can understand both sides of the spectrum. Second is the fact that he's looking out for the common man. I mean let's be honest, a republican is a republican is a republican no matter how you look at it, and he's only gonna look out for the wealthy. McCain says he'll bring the "right" change, but has yet to prove that fact. Seems to me, if you elect the same party just how much change can there really be? Third is Obama's stance on the whole global warming situation. McCain wants to drill offshore which is not gonna solve the problem. It may help in the short-term but in the long run we're gonna be in the same situation. I like that Obama wants to move towards alternative methods and he wants to do so IMMEDIATELY. McCain seems to think that we still have time to pussyfoot around, and that is clearly NOT the case. Something has to be done.....yesterday! I could go on and on but there is no need. OBAMA 08 BITCH'S! Get wit it or get lost!

DUH!

The Christian fascists of this country, in trying to rewrite history and turn this nation into a "Christian Nation"--- their constant yammering that this is the case... has played VERY BADLY in the Muslim world.
IT doesn't help when numbnuts like W actually use the word "crusade" in describing his military aggression in attacking a nation that did NOTHING to warrant it.

It's a LOT harder to demonize the United States as Christian Crusaders when the president has a mulim name and a muslim father.

Likewise- the US simply seems less like white imperialists whne the fornt man is black.

Rove worshipping retards OUGHT to recognize the value of PR.

There are more Muslims in the US than in Yemen. We need to present to the world the multicultural face that MORE ACCURATELY represents the character and make up of the U.S.

So, Yes, when it comes to how the rest of the world perceives the US- an eloquent and intelligent half black half white half muslim half Christian president IS a definite advantage.

Are you related to Obama or Ayers, or do you work on his campaign? This post is laughable.

McCain
"pals around" with terrorist G. Gordon Liddy and is "proud" of him ::rolleyes:

Liddy the Plumber: Why Is John McCain Defending an Unrepentant Terrorist? | Obama Politics

Excerpt:

John McCain has defended Liddy, an ex-felon who was part of Watergate, one of the worst abuses of executive power in American history.
John McCain has knowingly attended a fundraiser at the home of Liddy, an unrepentant terrorist who plotted the assassination of a journalist and encouraged the murder of federal law enforcement agents. Yet John McCain just a year ago declared that he was "proud" of this man.

John McCain not only knew about Liddy’s criminal past, he knew about Liddy’s 1994 comments urging listeners to shoot law enforcement agents in the head when he attended that 1998 fundraiser at Liddy’s home.
How do we know that McCain knew about Liddy’s comments? Because it was mentioned in a Washington Post story on May 18, 1995 which noted that Liddy had been "disinvited from a recent GOP fund-raiser because of his embarrassing exhortations to shoot pesky federal law enforcement officers." That same article discussed McCain joking around at an event with Liddy about his psychotic propensity to burn himself.

And more about John McCain's terrorist connections here:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/john-k-wilson/john-mccains-terrorist-co_b_133326.htmlhttp://www.huffingtonpost.com/john-k-wilson/john-mccains-terrorist-co_b_133326.html

In the 1980s, McCain personally funded a guerrilla group (the Contras) that engaged in terrorist acts. Just last year, McCain expressed how "proud" he was of an ex-felon who urged shooting law enforcement agents in the head (G. Gordon Liddy). And earlier this year, the McCain campaign trumpeted the endorsement of Oliver North who illegally provided weapons and money to terrorists; when a reporter questioned this, the McCain campaign refused to even criticize this criminal...
