Why measure mid shaft for girth?

It doesn't make sense now that I've stopped to think about it. Penii come in a lot of different shapes right? Why would a guy who's thicker at the base or closer to the head measure mid shaft? Does a woman not feel girth if it's not in the middle?:biggrin1:

Now if it's true that most of the nerve endings in the vagina are closer to the opening I would think it would make sense for that to be the default spot to start measuring. Or maybe it makes the most sense to just measure where it's the thickest.

Some people say the girth should be measured at different parts and an average should be taken. Others say measure at the thickest part. I just measure at the thickest part, which is near the top, and it stays reasonably consistent down the shaft.
