I find hiding your true age wether in is on a forum or real life is totally stupid. I am proud to say that I am 36 and when one of my friends joked with me on my last birthday saying "29 and holding right" I looked straight at her and said "nope 36 and proud of it." Age is just a number of years you have lived that is all it is.

But the PMs can sometimes get a bit crazy, so I can imagine not listing it would act as a deterrent to at least those who prefer a certain age range.
