I know there is one study with a 15,000 or so sample size that says 5.2 or so is average.
However, so many of us have such a different experience. As I've said many times, my 5.5 incher is one of the smallest penises I've encountered in about 60-70 encounters I've had sexually with gay men. Almost all have been bigger than 6 inches with I would say a majority over 7 inches. I've also experienced 10 inch, 9 inch, and several 8 inch guys. I know some will say my experience is skewed and that maybe I'm a liar or bad measurer. But hear me out....
There are many valid reasons why more studies need to be done.
1. Still to this day, penis size is a measure of a man in media, movies, TV, and culture. Just look at the recent attention Adam Demos has for the Sex/Life series and his massive schlong.
2. We want to know how we REALLY stack up. The 5.2 average from this one study might satisfy some egos. But I'd rather really know where my 5.5 stacks up. Reality is better to deal with.
3. Expectations. If there was really good data on not only averages (means), but also medians and modes, that would also help in the expectation game. So many guys have expectations that their grindr partner needs to be 7.5 or above. If he knew that the chance was truly rare that might help with managing expectations. On the other hand, if one knew that there were plenty of big guys out there, then those of us with smaller ones would really know and be motivated to develop other qualities to be attractive.
4. Women know where they stand. Their breast size is out there for the whole world to see. Same with their bottoms. No one cares about their genital "size." It might be better if men were the same - maybe then a smaller, attractive penis would be as accepted as a women's smaller breast.
Those are just some random thoughts about the subject. I'd be curious if others would also like to see more studies on the subject.
