Love the friendliness and southern hospitality of the south, hate the racism...I've encountered plenty of both, although the racism isn't as overt as it used to be.

OT, dude...Grow a set. Your thinking is part of the problem. Stop dealing with women that you're scared to be a man around. The truth is, if your behoviour isn't congruent, that will set off an alarm quicker than if you are consistent, i.e. being yourself. The meek bastard that 'makes a move' attempting to escalate at the end of the evening or at any inopportune moment will get shot down and looked at as being too pushy because to the woman it came out of nowhere.

How did so many men reach adulthood so gawddamned clueless?
Watch a Bond flick or somethin' and take notes!

I've only been here 2 years and my parents 5 years. We were all pleasantly surprised at the lack of overt racism we have encountered in rural Georgia.

I have often wondered the same thing. I didn't date in hs but I wasn't Helen Keller either. I saw how the mating dance between men and women is done. We also had televisions in our home and I frequently went to movies. Granted my idea of dating may be romanticized or idealized, but at least I have a friggin' clue. I do not understand how anyone male or female can get to be 25+ years old and not know how to go on a date or treat someone of the opposite sex whom they like. It's baffling!
