I, as a kid, remember visiting my Great Grandmothers, Grand Fathers resting place. Mothers day, Fathers day, Christmas with my Mum and Dad..... I still do when I am in the area. I remember as a kid visiting my grandparents :) It gave me a sense of belonging, even though it was only for a few generations before........it reminded me as a kid of my grandparents when they were alive, and their parents before.

These days, with all the disconnection in families. Sometimes with not one, but two step mum's or dad's...it's easy to forget where or who we are. Christmas time is not at one place..

Do you think this disconnection of where and who we are, is contributing factor to behaviour?

Gut instinct please.

This was a photo I took in a cemetery back in 2009 in a country town. There were a few angles..........But it was the message on the door of the caretakers cottage.

No.........didn't have sex there.........not in that one anyway :)

There was a time this would never have passed as acceptable.............now.....it's the norm. I've seen it go from this...........to now. Yet there are all these experts saying this is acceptable. I have always observed the small stuff. Where us humans are going........ sometimes................through a narrow opening to a dark place with "Fuck You" on the door....:)

Don't take it to heart....I'm pretty certain it had more to do with life than the afterlife. Knowing the heritage of the townships.

You could simply write, No, above it.
I probably could. I visit cemeteries for Gandma.....not Grammar though...

I think it had more to do with Indigenous peoples and their view of white people burial places, and desecration of theirs.

In death, we all end up the same.................one day, no matter where we meet the end, we might get around to that :)

One day, or night.......

Agreed. Desecrating graves is an ugly thing. Deeply ignorant.

Best guess is that in 100 trillion years, the last star will go out. The last day in the universe.

But much like the dying embers of a fire, the last stars won't just switch off, they'll slowly fade from bright white through warm red and eventually to a dull, barely perceptible glow as they, and everything, settles in for an eternal winter.

I bet they're planning a sequel.

Universe, the franchise.

Will the last star go out? Maybe like this one began with the debris from the last...squeezed through a cosmic grinder :)

I will be remembered, briefly, by those who loved, or knew, or merely encountered me — while they are still living. And as they all die in turn, so will all memory of me as I actually seemed, when flush or semi-flush with life.
Some of the 'material' of my being will persist. The atoms, the molecules, something of the energy that finally seemed to shuffle off completely ... but nothing will remain having anything to do with 'me,' my identity, my consciousness ... anything in any sense personal.

This has all seemed quite obvious to me, probably since I was young. I would love to be wrong. Quite prepared to be wrong. But by now I'm more or less passed even pondering the question.

No one is remembered.

Not too long ago I was studying Buddhism. I still am, if you're curious. Anyway, something I found interesting was that we really don't know much about the man who created Buddhism. We have a number of myths and legends, but how much of it is true and how much is false isn't really known. Even his teachings, since he came from a pre-literate culture without audio recordings, are a bit of a mystery. We have sayings and stories attributed to him but we don't really know how much of it he really said or how much of it was edited or changed for whatever reason.

The Buddha, Jesus, our distant ancestors, etc have become ideas to be manipulated by the living. Their true selves are long forgotten and aren't even important anymore.
