Shhhhhhhh... we're not supposed to know that! :biggrin1:

I know. I saw on the history channel last night about the sex lives of the first people who got here in the US. They say you can't go by what is written but what was going on in court at that time. A women professor on there stated that she loved reading the court cases that were going on at that time. The first person hung in Mass. was for fucking a horse, turkey, sheep and I forgot what else. She also claimed that what was in court was people " cheating" , incest and almost all I think is alittle on the weird side. This is what this country was founded on, go figure............. And they think that us homosexuals got problems, they need to look at themselves.

The more the reality of this odious platform (whoever called it "Sharia"* was on the right track) sinks in, the more votes it will cost Texas Republicans. In the words of a famous Texan president:

*My apologies to X704: quoting without attribution is a lazy way to post.

Aww thanks, but it's ok. They mention opposing Sharia in their own platform. But yet they want to impose their religious views through general legislation (criminalizing sodomy).
Preservation of Republican Form of Government – We support our republican form of government in Texas as set forth in
the Texas Bill of Rights (Art. I, § 2, §29; Art II §1; and Art. XVII §2g) and oppose Initiative and Referendum. We also urge the Texas Legislature and the United States Congress to enact legislation prohibiting any jurisdiction from allowing any substitute or parallel system of Law, specifically, but not limited to, Sharia Law, to be recognized which is not in accordance with the Constitutions of Texas or of the United States of America.

If I'm remembering correctly in some places (I'm thinking NYC) Jewish religious courts can decide civil matters, effectively functioning as binding arbitration. Provided both parties agree to it.

Speaking of which does this mean they oppose binding arbitration? Time to clog up the court system with more civil cases. O and I guess that means they are in favor of doing away with all the credit card agreements that require binding arbitration.

I'm waiting for the Texas GOP to want to enact other judeo-christian laws, you know like no mixed fiber clothing, and doing away with usury

More "highlights": http://static.texastribune.org/media/documents/FINAL_2010_STATE_REPUBLICAN_PARTY_PLATFORM.pdf

"The embodiment of the conservative dream in America is Texas."

"...the nuclear family is the strength of our nation...founded on the traditional marriage of a NATURAL man and a NATURAL woman."

"...a free enterprise system unencumbered by government interference..." (does that mean NO drill rig reguations??)

and HERE's a winner:

Elimination of Executive Orders: "We demand elimination of presidential authority to issue executive orders and other mandates...as well as the repeal of all previous executive orders and mandates."

This last part should be of particular interest to those minorities out there who think they're either Republicans or conservatives because the platform calls for the repeal of ALL previous executive orders, which would include The Emancipation Proclamation, as well as other executive orders issued by Roosevelt, Truman, Johnson, Clinton, and even Nixon; that dealt with various forms of discrimination.

More general wingnuttery:

Palin: Obama administration selling out allies - U.S. news - msnbc.com

"North and particularly Allen had already whipped the crowd into a lather.
North, who lost his 1994 bid to unseat Democratic Sen. Chuck Robb
, also ripped into the "potentates of pork along the Potomac and their headlong rush toward socialism.""

"Allen has published a book for what Republicans say is a bid to win back his Senate seat from Democrat Jim Webb in 2012."

"His mother, Etty, is Jewish and grew up in Tunisia. Her father had been detained by the Nazis while they occupied Tunisia. But during his campaign four years ago, Allen bristled when asked at a debate about his mother's Jewish heritage rather than acknowledging or embracing it."

"That helped doom Allen's re-election bid already hobbled in August when he pointed to a Virginia-born Webb campaign volunteer of Indian descent during a campaign speech and called him "Macaca," which is a slur in some cultures."

  • "We believe that the practice of homosexuality tears at the fabric of society, contributes to the breakdown of the family unit, and leads to the spread of dangerous, communicable diseases."

  • "Homosexual behavior is contrary to the fundamental, unchanging truths that have beenordained by God, recognized by our country's founders, and shared by the majority of Texans."

  • "Homosexuality must not be presented as an acceptable "alternative" lifestyle in our public education and policy, nor should "family" be redefined to include homosexual "couples."
They also want to "Outlaw" all sexually related businesses including strip clubs and Pornography. I say Good Luck with this platform. I think even the tea partiers are partial to their porn.

Most ppl in the US are fine w/ the first 2 points above, by the way, including the non-religious.

Saying most people in the US are fine with the first two points -- including the non-religious is just ignorant and I would bet, unsupportable.

In my small community of 200 families, we amended our homeowner covenants seven years ago [during Bush years! during booming real estate markets!] and 87% of the households here voted to extend community rights and home ownership to:
"...all families, including those composed of non-traditional same-sex partnerships not recognized by federal or state authorities."
You might find it interesting to note that out of the 200 families who live here, 61% of them identify themselves with a mainstream religious denomination and 34% state that they attend organized religious activities on at least a weekly basis.

Now, I recognize that our local governance issues constitute an unscientific poll and a statistically meaningless sample. Even so, this community is pretty solidly Republican with an average household income of over $140,000. If anybody was going to be bigoted and narrow-minded or concerned about "homosexual practices", it would be this group.

Once again, faceking, I think you're just projecting your opinion on the rest of the country.

Seeming complacency does not equate to people being "fine" with an issue, though certainly conservatives count on such when presuming to define our values for us.

The Republican Party marches ever farther to the right. They may yet be in for another surprise.

The link is heated exchange between some Talk Radio Teabagger and an MSNBC host: nothing about anybody being expelled.

The text is underneath the viddy, Bbucko. But the last line in the news article itself is perhaps telling:

"On its website, the Tea Party Express does not say how many supporters it has, but on Facebook it has 600 followers.

The [Teaparty] federation says 61 groups are members, and that it has "affiliate relationships" with 21 other groups."

Qualified Juror Service – Jury service should be limited to registered voters.
What you can't just be a citizen anymore? But have to be registered to vote now?

Texas Sodomy Statutes – We oppose the legalization of sodomy. We demand that Congress exercise its authority
granted by the U.S. Constitution to withhold jurisdiction from the federal courts from cases involving sodomy.
A Supreme Court decision doesn't matter they want to force you abiding by their beliefs. Even though they oppose Sharia law.

Judeo-Christian Nation – As America is a nation under God founded on Judeo-Christian principles, we affirm the
constitutional right of all individuals to worship in the religion of their choice.
<heh> as long as it is christian....

Boy Scouts of America – We support the Boy Scouts of America and reject any attempt to undermine or fundamentally
change the ideals of the organization.
Considering the mormons sponsor more scout troops than any other denomination I wonder how that will go down...

Federal Reserve System – As long as it exists, We, The Republican Party, call upon the United States Congress to act
immediately to pass a bill to require a full and complete audit of the Federal Reserve System and, that upon completion of
the audit, the results be immediately provided to the United States Congress and to the People of the United States.
We
believe Congress should repeal the Federal Reserve Act of 1913.
Now this is a reactionary thing that won't be happening

• Reject raising or indexing the gas tax.
unless the gas tax is based on a percentage then they are just begging for financial troubles down the line

Time for them to just throw in the towel and change the name to Christian Democrats. An ideology that has a long history.
Christian democracy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is the only good idea out of all of it. The Fed needs to be audited regularly, not once.

You have the United States of America and then you have the State of Texas. As the United States progressed ahead in areas of racial equality and human rights the State of Texas lagged behind. Texas has given us more than one U.S. President. Not one of them left behind a legacy of greatness.

Texas, as a State based on antiquated taxation laws has given a virtual open tax free life to extreme religious organizations which are in fact major corporations masquerading as religious organizations. Texas is part of the "Bible Belt" and has many laws which remain on it's books to this very day that left other states decades ago. Texas still retains "blue light" laws forbidding the sale of some kinds of things on established days of worship including believe it or not automobiles and recreational vehicles.

To this very day many Texans do not in all reality believe in their State as part of the United States of America and there are many in Texas who want to declare the State a Separate Country in and of itself.

Texas and Arizona both are havens for hate groups of all descriptions and have very large populations of individuals who are prone to taking the law into their own hands. The populations of extremists in both of these States is enough to get a few of these individuals elected to office. This is how and why we see extremist thinking codified in writing and actually proposed even though chances are high that it will be struck down in the Court System later.

This new Texas proposal is in fact not new at all and similar proposals have been around that State before.

Will Texas actually ever implement anything like this? Though I seriously doubt it, we do need to remember that they also gave us George W. Bush and merely visiting there can cost you I.Q. points if you are in the right place.

But, remember one major thing. Texas is not just rural places without civilized thinking. Texas is also Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth and many other major metropolitan areas with many voters who are smarter than a 5th Grader and many who will see this for what it in fact is and that is a simple power grab by extremists who depend on the lack of education of certain geographical localities to gain power.
