Sadly winter is here, yes I can't stand the cold, or snow. I like to "hibernate" and barely go out of the house. Anyone else do this? I also find I get a little bit of seasonal depression, or maybe I just look at it that way. What are everyone's thoughts about winter? Do you go often? Do you like winter? What activities do you do? Just some random thoughts..

Wow, I love winter season. I am more energetic at that time of the year and I do work as normal and maybe even more. No different from other days, I guess.

Exercise is great to help ward off depression. I have a membership at the YMCA, and I do taekwondo throughout the year. Since they are both indoor activities, the season doesn't really matter. Also, I plan a late winter or early spring vacation to give me something to look forward to. I normally head down to the Caribbean.

This would all be great, except for the fact that i unfortunately hate to even go out and get into my car :biggrin1:

I do have to go out sadly everyday for classes. I'll probably still walk just for the fresh air, but I'll be dressing in layers lol

I've felt the same way for years that's why this is how I spend the better part of the winter months now.

Talk about a 2nd Coming
NZ seems to have a Cold snap or more coming from the South, last few weeks
and we have just got over Winter?
(Aus the same apparently..)

Wouldn't surprise if all Countries have a reversal of Seasons
IF the World lasts long enough for such

I live in a southern state where it gets so hot in the summer that everyone stays inside with air-conditioning. Winter gets cold, but not brutally cold. In a way, you get trapped inside moreso during the summer trying to stay cool than you do in the winter trying to stay warm. We have lots of sunny warm days during the winter so depression is not so much a factor, and when it does snow, it stay on the ground for just a couple days.

I like winter more than summer.

You're lucky! I live more north, so it's mostly winter months, with only about 2-3 months of summer. I go out everyday during the summer! As they say, it's easier to cool off than it is to warm up. Well that's how I feel anyhow. I'm thinking of transferring college's just to get out of the cold, and to meet, and see new things...

I do as well, but the winter is an exception, unless of course I have classes.

damn u all for talking about winter i wanna be warm im packing my bags and moving to somewhere warmer til winter shoves off

There's a lot of us who feel the same! I wouldn't mind laying on a beach somewhere haha

Honestly, other than the lack of daylight to get things done outside I love the winter. The only season I don't like is early spring when it is cold, rainy and everything is mud but that's only for a month or so. If it's going to be 0°F out I'm going to be out there in it.

Took a weeks vacation snowmobiling one year the high that week was 16F, and at 40-100mph the wind chill is killer. But viva winter in my book. (although not that i would turn down a free trip someplace warm for a week to see the sun! :biggrin1: )

I hate Winter. I'm cold natured.

I'm not a fan as well, grown up in it for 23 years so far...

Snowmobiling is fun, but I rarely get time these days, too much homework and studying. I also love hockey, but haven't played since high school. I definitely wouldn't pass up a trip either, probably a lot of sexy women in bikinis :biggrin1:

The biggest thing I've found is to just force yourself to do something sometimes. There has been many times I've not wanted to do something, go out to the bar, go to a concert or whatever, that I've just said to hell with it I'm going. Is it awesome everytime, no, but the ones that are were well worth the 30 minutes of mental grumbling.

So in short if you like hockey at least make time to go out and skate or play some backyard football with your buds. Played Rubgy and no rules Footbal in the winter many times with buds and had a blast that we still talk about. You just have to force yourself to make plans sometimes.

And yes I totally know what you mean with the seasonal depression, that's why I've adopted the practice of keeping busy, be it working out, being social. When you feel a bout coming on force yourself to go do something, sitting in the house only makes it worse man!
