PS. I had to drop the "strappy peep-toe flats" on that one. For all of the comments that I'd probably get about saying a line like that, my GF works in shoes for a high-end designer, so a good portion of our time together is spent with me listening to her talk about shoes...

First of all. This is NOT a female bashing thread. I always wonder why woman are so obsessed with buying shoes. Can any of you ladies please explain that?

not obsessed with it. Only ones I have are practical shoes. I have one pair of heels left from when I use to perform in college. But when I do get shoes, I buy quality ones. I have bought maybe 2 pair of shoes in the last 5 years to replace my walking shoes and one is in storage now not out of the box.

Women are slaves to bobbles and material garbage that make them feel constantly inadequate thanks to Madison Avenue.

I don't buy shoes or any other baubles to mask insecurities, I buy them because I can and I buy them because I am secure in myself to know I can handle the attention I get when I wear them.

I always wondered about this myself. When you are on a date with a woman, wearing nice shoes is even more important.

I don't really have an obsession with shoes. I like cute shoes, just as I like cute clothes, but I don't think it's really obsessive or anything.

However, I have trouble finding shoes that I like, that also fit. I wear a wide-width shoe, and most of the cute shoes come in medium widths only. Those are just too narrow and painful for me to wear, or I will buy (in certain styles I can get away with this) a half to a full size larger just to get the width, but they're still a bit too narrow. So for me shopping for shoes is often an exercise in frustration. Too many of the wide-width shoes are "granny shoes" and really dowdy and ugly.

Because no matter how bad of a day you've had; no matter how bad your hair looks; no matter how bloated and fat you feel - you can *always* find a pair of killer shoes that make you feel like the most beautiful woman in the world.

Next question?

  1. They're pretty!
  2. In Texas there are as many places to hunt and fish as there is to shop. Fortunately, you don't need a license to shop...Yippee!
  3. F**k me pumps: Great in private but not at work. Meaning, another excuse to buy more shoes.
  4. Buying a new pair of shoes gives a reason to buy other new stuff like a purse or outfit. (I know it wasteful, materialistic, and wrong but oh well!)
  5. They're pretty!

Different shoes give me different feelings and moods, and hence different levels of confidence. You definitely will turn heads when your shoes "click-click" whereever you go.

I have TONS of shoes - stilettos, sandals, flats, boots, etc. You name and I probably got it!! My hubbie doesn't understand why I have 10 pairs of black heels ... if you're not a woman you won't understand!

So men - just let us woman deal with it. You can enjoy us wearing them! I just have one rule - any heel over 4" or boots that go above the knee are for bedroom only! (or Halloween)

I've got tons of shoes, out of all of them only one pair are what anyone would call 'sensible' shoes.
Me too, and they are my tennies. I'd prefer to wear my pink fuzzy slippers to them just cause they are prettier!

Slippers are awkward, a lot of them are really ugly so I tend to wear flip flops of the flowery/gemmy type or schol sandals (the wooden ones that have been out for years). My sensible shoes are trainers and even with them I manage to be a bit on the girly side, they're powder blue nubuck.

My slippers don't look like slippers though...they are more like a slide and the band across my foot is made out of pink marabou feathers. I also have them with 3" heels too.

Why do women like shoes...

Probably because of their geometric shapes and their functionality combined with their manditory presense in an outfit coupled with the fact that they can make or break said fashion.

Or they could just really like their own feet; many females tnd to like pretty feet...

It's kind of like any other accessory; the more the female likes that part of her body, especially a mandatory attention area, the more the female will have garments and accessories for it.

... Or...

Their vagina's just desire them.
