Am I the only woman on earth who gets offended by the ridiculous stereotype of the "shoe crazed woman"?? Not all women are obsessed with shoes. It makes us sound like we're idiots that we salivate over shoes.

Its like saying all men are obsessed with cars, or all men can be pacified with beer and sports.

No, I thought the thread title was offensive, like women not only fit into a narrow stereotype, it's also a "WTF" kind of situation, which I reserve for much nuttier things like kicking puppies or forcing women to get unnecessary rape-like ultrasounds or funding armies of kidnapped children.

I happen to like shoes, though, even though it's probably been two years since I've bought a pair and a few of mine are starting to need repair.

I own more sneakers and boots than dress shoes. A grand total of 4 pairs of heels, 11 pairs of boots, 5 pairs of sneakers. Only time I wear heels is for an event such as a weddings. You'll never find me in them for much else. Maybe a date. Usually I'm kicking about in my sneakers and boots. During the summer it's all about the sandal ... last count 5 pairs.

Add me to the sensible shoes camp. I live in runners (Skechers usually) and MBT mary janes. I can't wear heels, never learned to walk in them. I own a couple of pair but they collect dust in my closet. I also own some Converse. Oh and a few pairs of rubbers (galoshes), and one pair of black knee-length boots.

Same. To be honest, every time I put on heels, I feel like a guy would feel in heels. Totally uncoordinated, can't walk, look like a doofus. Lol. In fact, I know some guys that can walk in heels better than me.

Got nothing against a woman having lots of shoes as long as she doesn't take up storage space from mine! In the house I converted a bedroom into a dressing room and one wall is full of shoes. I like shoes and boots and all different kinds of sandals. I only wear trainers or runners if I'm training or running.

Why I don't understand is nail polish. I don't care as long as they're clean and trimmed, it doesn't bother me but i'll never understand the need to color ones nails.

because fluro green nail polish matches my xkcd science tshirt. lol

I have converse shoes. They go with everything. I have even worn them while wearing formal clothes.

My wife has a closet full of shoes. All in their boxes and labeled. That's cool. But, hey, I have a garage with 3 Harleys! That's cool also.

Wanna go out? lol

Converse is pretty much all i wear also. There are guys who also have an obsession with shoes, I don't see the big deal in collection Jordan's.

Earlier this year Cap came into my closet and saw the "wall o' shoes" and counted 47 boxes. He said "You have 47 pairs of shoes?" I told him don't be silly, and never said anything else because there are about another 30 pair not in boxes.

He said a person only needs two or three pairs of shoes - dress, everyday and work.

I then marched in his closet and we counted together: 14 pairs of shoes, boots, sandals, etc. And he defended each and every pair and asked me to do the same.

I said I didn't have to.

I have two pairs of shoes. One pair of tennis shoes, one pair of dress shoes. Every spring/summer, I get a cheap pair of flip flops from Target. I throw them away when it gets cold.

I'll never understand women and shoes.
I like your way of thinking.
