My thoughts on this are that I'm entirely more logical than most men, I might not always want to give a reason for why I do something, but there always is a reason. However I find most men to be illogical creatures, their emotions take them over and before they know it they find themselves in deep shit. Before I do anything I weigh up the ramifications, most men seem to jump straight in with both size 12s and worry later about the consequences.

In many ways I see a sense of logic as diametrically opposed to creativity, and I'm forced to admit that artistically and using the written word men have us beat, however verbally we beat them hands down and that's because we read their body signals, use our reasoning to work out what it is they're really saying and apply logic to that.

Wow ya u must be good at reading what into what people really mean. I didnt even no that this question was about men! Thanks great insight.

LOL and that statement is stupid. Its is a sexist generalisation, and NO generalisations are worth a damn!

If I have ever had the stereotype, it has been more in terms of subjective versus objective.

There is also a difference between being rational and constantly evaluating situations to control them as best you can.

ladies, if you can manage any actual thoughts, what are your thoughts on this statement?

Statement: Women don't act on reason. Their thoughts are entirely based on emotion.''

The statement made me sooooo ANGRY. Then I had a good cry about it, and now I'm just kind of bored with the whole idea.

If women are sick of that stereotype, why don't they DO something about it?? It's a good thing I'm not a woman because I would be going around so angry all the time about the way women are portrayed on TV in general and in commercials in particular.

Here is my rant on the topic --

why haven't gay men stopped society seeing them as all as flaming queens?
does the fact that some gay men fall into the flaming queen stereotype justify a blanket statement that all gay men are flaming queens?

it's the same thing.

people love stereotypes and will pick & choose examples where it is true to justify their discriminatory attitudes.

and women stay in abusive relationships for the exact same reasons that so many men do.

^^it happens to men too.

and the denial that men can be victims too makes it even harder for men to get the help and support they need to escape, so please don't make out like domestic violence is something that only happens to us silly, emotional girlies.

I feel sorry for men who feel this way because the their belief that it's true leaves them vulnerable to manipulation. Their women can give them bullshit explanations that make no sense and would send up warning signs galore had a man used the same rationales but because we poor widdle women aren't capable of logic they'll accept the bullshit as being true because it's the best our minds function.

I knew a guy who thinks "all women are batshit crazy".
His gf, while at the same time begging to repair their strained relationship, courted another man on the sly and then invited him to her bf's house for sex.
She says she did this to prove to herself that she loved her bf. (The sex wasn't as good with the new guy, his dick was smaller, that's her proof).
Because he believes women are crazy he accepts this as 'women's logic' and finds it understandable.

but these are so often the same men who believe we are always cold and manipulative, rather than emotionally warm...just read how many posts there are saying women are only interested in rich men with flash cars.

I think both views are a sign of insecurity because these beliefs allow them to feel superior to women when they likely feel the opposite.

What's more they will gravitate to women who embody these stereotypes despite their stated disdain of them because they reinforce their world view.

They will live hells of their own creation. Deservedly so.

Thank you for the links, dolfette! I love taking tests online. How irrational of me, lol.

I and many others of both sexes have been made to think that our logical side is superior, but the truth is both are necessary for mental balance. And I hate it very much when my hormones ramp up my emotions beyond ignorable levels. Lots of people take me for a cold fish unless they can see my face, because I have never been able to keep turmoil off of my face. Many times people will call me on something they see on my face which I had been ignoring with all my might.

and the women who end up with them are the ones with low expectations of male behaviour...jerry springer couples.
