A guy I used to know loaned his car to his neighbour for a day while her car was in the garage getting something done to it. She drove from Cardiff to London and back along the M4 in second gear. Her own car was an automatic and she didn't think of changing up. He said he could hear the gearbox screaming as she drove up to his house and wondered what was making the noise. Needless to say he hasn't loaned her his car since.

One of my friends was nearly killed by a school-run mum while cycling into work. The woman overtook her, braked hard and flung open the rear offside passenger door for her sprog to get out. My friend ended up in hospital after hitting the door because she had nowhere else to go other than into oncoming traffic. Then the woman had the gall to start screaming at her for nearly hitting her precious little darling! Forget the fact that not only had she caused the accidetn in the first place, she also expected him to get out of the car into traffic rather than onto the pavement.

Here, young people. And old people. Just damn.

But women drivers? Half very good, half very bad.

NCbear (who once, at the age of 18, ended up in a neighbor's rosebush in a 1971 rear-wheel-drive Opel coupe--in my defense, it was a stick [I'd just learned] and the roads were icy )

I see more women talking on their cells. I once carpooled with a girl who did her makeup while driving in the mornng, she used her knee to steer. At night she smoked a joint on the way home.

It used to be true that men did more stupid things, but in today's world it is at best equal. When I am tailgated two thirds of the time it is a woman. Women run more stop signs in front of me.

I have male friends who are lousy drivers, but I see more women who are.
