What absolute complete, unsubstantiated bullshit.

And people wonder why I take issue with many a so called feminist!

As a side note: I was raped long before I ever saw anything pornographic, but then, maybe my skirt was a little too short that day

To be clear, in case there was a misunderstanding on what I posted, "many a so called" is to be read as "ya know, all those nut jobs who ONLY use the label on to try and hide that they're nut jobs"

uh huh.

this thread title is as ridiculous as saying ''christians say god hates fags.''
or, indeed, all sex is rape and all men are rapists.

It's sad to think that we're still living in an age when generalizations are still so prevalent that those not making them feel the need to defend the fact that they're not making them.

It's also sad to think that we're in a world where "some" feminists (ok, only one that I know of, but it still counts right?) feel the need to deny the label because of "some" of the others using it, and the deep desire to never be associated with them.

Oh such a difficult and complex world, would be so much easier if we had no labels, groups or organizations and were each judged solely on our own merits. Then we could all be ourselves without fear of being tarnished by spill over from others within our "team"

i know i'm assuming a lot, but i get the impression that this thread is an attempt to be pissy about feminism and rape because my thread ruffled some feathers.

I got that impression too...

Given the opinions in the other thread, that article linked both seems a little too convenient and highly unlikely to have been something he'd "stumbled on" naturally.

I'm just guessing though!

was the original article of scorn linked? i read through twice and didn't see it.. but is still very early for me.

"all sex is rape" is a misquote.

the original sentiment is more along the lines of "in a patriarchal society women, as a group, do not have enough power to give honest consent"

the have been cultures, still are cultures, where women can't earn their own money, own property, are not allowed to walk the streets without a male chaperone. where women are still used to settle debts or seal contracts. where women are completely powerless to provide themselves or their children with the basic necessities of life.... if sex become a woman's only way of securing her survival.. sex now become a tool of female subjugation.

under such conditions any relationship with a man could be seen as societal coercion. state sanctioned rape of every woman. "all sex is rape"

eta: when the whole "all sex is rape" misquoting happened, spousal rape was still legal in the united states. ya can kinda see why things got so twisted and sensationalized.

i really hate feminist bashing.
every other "ist" and "ism" is allowed to distance themselves from the zealots.. is very telling that feminists are not given the same pass.

randomly the OP got all douche-mc-irate in Ms. Dolfette's Amazing Picture thread.

I don't think anyone was trying to bash all feminists aside from maybe the OP, and it is disgusting that so many still consider them all such and such based on a few. It happens in most "groups" and it's vile.

Worst still is the knock on effect it has of forcing others who place themselves within a certain group to deny the fact for fear that their messages will be dismissed and ignored by the ignorant masses who can't see beyond the label to the individual.

Well, I did stuble upon this article, actually, while researching what people were saying about the Boston incidents. It was linked to an article about them.

women: the price for watching porn, is rape, say SOME feminists.

^^^see how that sounds so much less retarded?

Talk to the woman that wrote the article - that's where I lifted that title from.

Since there is more than one feminist saying this though - that watching porn makes women more likely to be raped - it's perfectly fair to use the plural, "feminists".

Bare in mind, also, that the main author of the offending paper which makes this claim, is a PROFESSOR of women’s studies - i.e. a professional feminist. She's part of the feminst elite, and educates young women to become feminists just like herself.

You are correct in noticing the parallel to the "amazing pictures" thread - http://www.lpsg.org/268090-amazing-pictures.html

There we saw female outrage at the indirect implication from Boston Police that women that wore revealing clothing were putting themselves at risk of rape, but here we see the DIRECT ASSERTION from professional Feminists that watching porn puts women at risk of rape.

There should be EVEN MORE outrage at this, then; But where are the protests?

Ok, I think I just demonstrated my own point, for the second time in one thread

I make a post, which makes perfect sense to me, and is in defense of those I'm speaking to, I hit enter, wait for a post, get paranoid I've been misunderstood, make a second post to explain that I'm not doing whatever was explained in the post I'm now replying to when I know full well I wasn't, but have to state it, just in case, all because of the behavior of others!

Be careful! Given that all men are rapists, there may be some who are driven to abuse women who make intelligent comments on message boards.

I can see the difference:

1. Many men and women hold the opinion concerned in the other thread, it is prevalent all through society and makes victims out of women before they've even been touched.

2. The woman, regardless of what letters she may have along side her name, is batshit crazy. I'm far more outraged at the damage her and her kind do to the feminist label than the bollocks she's spewing... which has been demonstrated in this thread as much as my outrage in the other was.

I have many an inappropriate response to make to that dear Drifter, but I shall settle for "It isn't rape if I consent" :biggrin1:

Not it's not.

"All men are rapists and that's all they are" - Marilyn French

"In a patriarchal society, all heterosexual intercourse is rape because women, as a group, are not strong enough to give meaningful consent."
- Catharine MacKinnon,

"When a woman reaches orgasm with a man she is only collaborating with the patriarchal system, eroticizing her own oppression." -- Sheila Jeffrys

"All sex, even consensual sex between a married couple, is an act of violence perpetrated against a woman." - Catherine MacKinnon

randomly the OP got all douche-mc-irate in Ms. Dolfette's Amazing Picture thread.

No I didn't.
