How floppy are you talking? There are totally floppy dildos but I don't think they're used for much. Many dildos are made from silicone or rubber and have some flexibility to them but are basically rigid enough to ride. There is a fine line between having something that feels like a real human and something that is so hard it doesn't resemble the real thing at all (like glass - not made to simulate the feel of a human). Also, often times it's how the dildo is used - if it's specifically made to stimulate the g-spot it's probably more rigid. If it's for general penetration and to feel filled, rigidity is probably not as important. As long as it's hard enough to apply pressure to various areas it doesn't have to be too hard. Keep in mind, a real cock may be rock hard but there is still give to it - probably not really as hard as you think. I mean, if you pressed down on the head of your dick, your finger is going to sink down a tad - It's not like it's solid like marble where there's no give at all.

For me, no matter how soft, hard, warm, cold, etc. a dildo is, it's never going to feel the same as the real thing. In fact, it does little more than nothing for me.

Your insight is pretty much what I imagined, but mostly what I'm talking about is in videos (mostly solo stuff) you see the girl trying to put it in and it just seems like many of them have so much give to it, like it has difficulty penetrating. Of course depending on how tight the girl is, the same problem arises (like I had with the last girlfriend, but I'm on the thicker side with a fairly big mushroomy head). The shaft can bend a little in the middle when forced, perhaps that's a little like the "floppiness" of the dildo.

Jelly dildos tend to be cheap and that's why you see them in porn, as they are disposable with little expense. The 'good stuff' glass, metal, and high quality dildos have a nice rigidity to them, while being soft in terms of material, to make the experience of penetration, hard fucking, etc., comfortable.

Personally, I love dildos and the harder the better if I am using them solo. With a playmate, however, I'll go with Vixskin because my partner can go harder and not hurt/bruise me with it.

So, with the more jelly like dildos, can you even feel it moving around or sliding into you? Or is it more of a "full" feeling?

Depends on the toy itself. There are jelly ones with lots of ridges, or veins, or big heads, etc. Jelly isn't really jelly, it's clear, sort of soft material. There is the cyberskin, which has many different names, which to the hand feels more like real skin, but for me, isn't rigid enough. There is rubber, which is usually extremely rigid. Silicone, rigid, not hard, great because it heats up nicely. See, many different things. To be worse, you can get really hard feeling jelly too, or super soft silicone. Some people like the total smooth thing, some like ridges, some like full. I would bet that most women have more than one vibe or dildo, for different moods. I know I've test driven quite a few before picking my faves.
