my wife recently went through a long illness. i tend to disagree with those who'd say that life-threatening experiences are gifts. that said, being at her side through all it all made me realize, on an even deeper level, what a gorgeous, witty, brave, resilient, sexy badass she really is.

if i'd read this thread before seeing her go through that, i'm not sure i would have appreciated it as much. but as it is, i smiled through every post. women really are magical creatures.

Life threatening experience a gift? I agree with you, they are not a gift but it does make us see things more clearly. If we make it through to the other side to lick the wounds, it can make us more compassionate.
