Hi Patch

I'm not saying this to be cute or garner favour with anyone but I'm a man who believes that women should have every right/privilege that a man enjoys with reference to the workplace
(equal pay for work of equal value),sexuality
(not be labeled because she enjoys sex & has certain preferences) and especially in terms of reproductive technology (full & total control over her body;without the intrusion of the state).

I think that more men ought to say these things. It shows integrity to do so.

Friendship being the key word. Someone that is truely your friend would never try to make you uncomfortable repeatedly in a social situation. That falls under catty IMO.

Strangely enough I can say personally most people that I truely consider my friends have stepped up repeatedly to try to protect me in situations like you mentioned. That being said I would do the same for each of them. Though none of us need it.

This is true! True friends would never do that.

The patriarchy is to blame for this. Women competing against each other, or even defending men against other women. I saw a friend on Facebook defending the actions of a rugby player accused of being involved in the gang rape of a female fan. That's exactly what the patriarchy wants - for women to tear each other down. We are doing their dirty work for them.

I've always had more female friends than males. I feel I can only really trust another woman.
So it is men's fault when women act negatively to other women.

LPSG is one of the only places to which I've been where the women are ones I find interesting and bright, and where they are open and curious. I get along easiest with this type of woman. There are many of these in my life away from the computer. However, there are also definitely far, far more men in my life fitting this description.

I second this. Maybe it is because women here are less likely to judge others on their sexuality and the way they choose to express it.

Question regarding the porn industry in the US:

What proportion of the female professionals have employment options providing equivalent income? If the proportion is fairly high - which I suspect it is - it would be more honest for Patch's anger to be directed, not at the consumers of this objectification, but at the willing participants who forgo self-respect to be objectified.

Are you serious?

Name me one other profession, aside from high end prostitution, where a person needs no education, no qualifications and no prior experience to make a three or four figure sum for a few hours work.

I don't think porn stars actually get paid very much. And there are women who produce porn and have their own porn production companies. There are even feminist porn sites. Really this is a debate between Sex-Positive Feminists and Anti-Pornography Feminists. Jezebel and Feministe discusses the politics of porn all the time and the various arguments on both sides of the debate.

And those are two different issues, aren't they? Any injustices within the porn industry has no bearing upon the ability of a person who views porn to have progressive feminist beliefs.

I've had conflicts with many more women in my inner circle of "friends" than I have had with my male friends.

I still for the most part, get along well with both sexes. I suspect most female conflicts stem from immature jealousy of some sort.

I'm not really one for conflicts. If you like me you do, if you don't that's too bad for you but I'm not going to waste my time trying to get you to like me. That's just the way I look at it. The sex of who they are really makes no difference to me. I'm pretty easy to get along with if you take the time to get to know me.

Women compete with other women all the time.

Men compete with other men all the time.

I see no problem with this. We are not supposed to "like" every person we come into contact with. That would be queer and contrary to our natural instincts and behaviours.

Plus most people are...undesirable.

I am trying to see this from Patchos' perspective. To be absolutely honest, I can not help but think of how my cock would look in the hands of a woman I find sexually stimulating. I certainly don't do this to men, so..yes, I absolutely treat some women different than I treat men. But I think the thing Patchos ignores is that I don't find all women attractive...and the when I do, it is not solely on the basis of breast size, hair color or other physical traits. Intelligence, quick wit, humor and attitude mean much more to me than most physical traits. And, despite the biological urge to want to fuck the women you find attractive, we are blessed with minds, experiences, learning and hearts that modify how we react to that stimulus...and allow us to appreciate those attributes that are not sex-based.

I guess what I am saying is...just because I may want to sleep with you, does not necessarily mean that I view you as a lesser, objectified person. I can both want you sexually and enjoy you for everything else that you can bring to my life.

I think that Patchos hasn't ever seen this in a man because, for whatever historical reason, she approaches each interaction with them with the expectation that she will not. Since people react to what appears before them, it is not surprising that it is never apparent that men can be (and in my circle of friends, almost always are) enlightened, sensitive and truly appreciative of everything another person..even a woman...may have to offer.

 Feminist Porn is provided on this link! I'll be clicking links all day now.

I do agree that a lot of porn is geared toward men. I find the majority of it does nothing for me. I would rather read erotica because I can imagine the participants vs the porn industry showing me another man or woman that fits the general "porn" mold. Most of the time I like amatuer porn more than any of it and some of the bdsm porn... if it is a truely good scene.

Why don't men mind when they feel a womans gaze?

But I sometimes do, it often makes me uncomfortable.

Because we live in a patriarchal society and being a man gives you the privilege of not being objectified and judged by your appearance.

False, false, false! Do you see a lot of underwear commercials with fat, hairy men? Think there's much demand for a male stripper with micropenis? Are you oblivious to the existence of size queens?

If a man had to testify in court as a result of rape would his appearance be scrutinized? (was his skirt too short? was he showing cleavage?).

How about a man that is on trial for rape? Don't you think he might be judged on his appearance? Is he clean cut, well dressed, is he attractive, does he have good posture, does he have a nice smile?

Women are always being judged, scrutinized and objectified. How fuckable are we? Are we hot enough? Are we yummy mummies? Are we sexy but not slutty? Who determines that?

You come to a large penis site that places a heavy emphasis on the exhibition and appearance-based judgement of men, and preach about the disproportionate objectification of women. Target missed.

Professional athlete no, poker player no, darts player no, movie acting maybe no, no, talk show hostmaybe no, no, pop singer no, fashion model no, public office/politician no, no, no

In short, no. You really think pro-athletes make big money immediately with no prior expereince? You really think women (and you were on about women to start with) with no education, no qualifications and no prior experience find it easy to get into public office? How much do you think public officials get paid anyway?

Big fail. Try again.

I see some of my friends married to "yummy mummies" and you would be forgiven for thinking that we lived in a Matriarchy.

You could read vogue and be forgiven for thinking that women objectify themselves.

That said, this thread was not about these things. Though feel free to discuss whatever you want.

I am a bit worried as to what it makes me that I like someone who hates me.

Dealing drugs. So blame the drug addicts when the poor dealer gets busted!
